Improved Greens
I generally favour the Nicklaus as it tends to be in better condition but the Cheshire was in top order. i took a visitor as i often do who was charge £30 - i've never experienced that high cost before as you can pay that much without being intoduced. Reluctantly the club house refunded my friend the £10 i feel he was overcharged.(Round played: Sep 2018 - Score: 110 Handicap: 14.5)

Scenic course
Fairways were in poor condition, probably due to the warm weather. Long walks between holes with poor signage.(Round played: Sep 2018 - Score: 106 Handicap: 23.1)

Great Away Weekend
Lovely Course. This is the second of the two carden Courses. Starts off with a fairly simple Par 3 to lull you in then hits you with a lovely par 5 second hole to jolt you back. Some great holes but beware of the hidden water hazards which a lot of them you are not aware of until you are on top of them.Overall a great course to play and would certainly recommend.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 96 Handicap: 12.4)

Nicklaus is a hard course!
I don't think its as bad as the reviews i read before hand made out, but this is a very challenging course and I would advise against playing it without a buggy as the walks to each hole are quite long.Reviewer Rating

Great course
Lovely condition, make sure you don't go in the long rough, greens true and fairways in superb condition, worth a trip(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 101 Handicap: 19.7)

Changed for the worst
Really disappointed with the condition of the Cheshire course having enjoyed playing a number of times previously. We spent time looking for balls in the first cut on most of the holes as the ball buried in grass which was too long which prolonged the round, Any grass surrounded by bunkers or in bunkers was long, thick and wispy one of our party lost his ball and another had to drop in the bunker because his ball was unplayable. The hotel needs to realize that it is a hotel course with groups visiting and they will take longer to complete their round anyway. I can envisage 5 and half hour rounds. Will not be visiting until this changes.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 96 Handicap: )

Tough course if you miss the fairway
We might have got an unfair view of this course. It was very wet due to recent rain.First cut of rough was very punishing. Very deep and wet. Buggies restricted to cart paths. Long walk if you played to the other side of the fairway.
Greens very variable - not recovered since spiking.
Limited to playing the Cheshire course because the Nicklaus course was closed because it was too wet. Some players staying at the hotel were bussed out to other local courses because of the closure.

Fantastic Course
Very overcast and miserable but played very well. Greens well drained and only small proportion of fairways "sodden". Greenkeepers need to be more aware of players as had to wait several times (about 5 minutes each time) for them to vacate either the fairways or the greens.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 117 Handicap: 25.3)

A course that can be enjoyed
Again, again and again.Played this course twice now and I have a feeling that the Cheshire course is about to become my home course that I go to every weekend. Get a deal on tee of times and you'll struggle to play a better course anywhere for £20.
All the fairways are very well maintained, the greens are super fast and in great condition, the tee boxes are becoming slightly worn due to players not repairing after teeing off but you can see how the green staff are trying to keep on top of this.
I'm starting to fall in love with this course and for the first time, I can see why you would actually want to be a member and play this course week in week out. Other than the Brabazon at the Belfry, this is my favourite course.
Most people would, I guess, choose the Niklaus course first, but if they don't come back and play the Cheshire, then there making a huge mistake.
Well done Carden, fantastic venue, fantastic course and superb conditions.
The only fly in the proverbial ointment is the chipping facilities, just not good enough, tucked away behind the driving range, you lose the atmosphere of the courses and golfers and you're limited to just chipping out of bunkers.
However, ignore this area and stay up near the spectacular clubhouse and putting green; have a nice beer and enjoy the sun and golf sitting on the balcony over looking the 18th green.
See you shortly.
