Still suffering post lockdown
I have played both courses this year with a friend who is a member as we both live locally. Given his handicap of 27, he prefers the Woods as there is less chance of losing balls in the water. I am happy with either as there is plenty of variety of length or shots required to play well. You will use all your clubs and the ability to hit a straight drive is premium on the Woods and knowing how far you hit each club to avoid water for the Lakes course. Immediately after lockdown it was terrible with really punishing rough at the sides of all fairways and I lost loads of balls, but it has got better this year and the fairways and greens are in good condition. Bunkers and tees are another matter, and they spoil what could be a really great pair of courses.Reviewer Rating

Nice course
Nice course, greens in very good condition but windy conditions made it very difficult on the day(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 99 Handicap: 14.6)

a lovely place
a lovely place to have a golf weekend away with the lads. The only thing that let it down was lack of staff for serving drinks, but it is Covid time (sort off)(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 84 Handicap: 12.5)

Nice parkland course in great surroundings
Nice parkland course in great surroundings, a great set up with 2 courses both very different. The Woodside one today was presented in very good condition, the greens were true and fast. Pin positions were tricky at times so a good test for all. One downside was it is a very busy venue so expect a slower than normal round but for all that a fantastic experience. Great shop and clubhouse although the prices are as expected with a De Vere a little on the expensive side. Great visit and would return.(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 92 Handicap: 18.6)

2 great courses
Enjoyed a 3 day visit playing both the Woods and Lakes courses. Both were in excellent condition, fairways and greens, tee boxes were a little scorched! Weather was great and clubhouse served good drink and food. Bit surprised with the course so busy and the temperature that no one came around with drinks and the halfway house was closed but very enjoyable.(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 96 Handicap: 27.5)

Dissapointing
Following decent reviews and a number of conversations with the hotel, we felt our golf weekend could still be enjoyable despite COVID. Lakes and Woods courses both good with lots of challenges and the two starters were excellent and gave good advice on what to avoid. Greens were excellent but tee's were awful on both courses, felt like no one had looked after them for six months. Hotel however, was dreadful with miserable staff, shabby facilities and no grasp on the COVID situation at times.Reviewer Rating

Great course
Two good courses - Lakes was challenging. Both in good condition except for the rough that had been cut and left by the fairway which hid any ball that went into it. Decent room, comfortable bed and hotel doing well despite covid restrictionsReviewer Rating

Two good tracks
Preferred the Lakes course to the Woods. Plenty of interesting holes on both, but the Lakes wins it for me. The water hazards are there, but not necessarily too intrusive. The greens on both courses were superb and we were virtually playing millionaires golf on both rounds. Minor niggles - The tee boxes on both courses need seeing to. Some were like playing out of the rough. The bunkers were dreadful, Covid shouldn't be an excuse for not caring for these. They clearly hadn't been touched for months. Covid has also meant restricted menus which puts a bit of a damper on the post round.Reviewer Rating

Decent track
Played here with a work colleague was excellently placed equidistant between Yorkshire and London. Course was in OK knick. tee boxes were disappointing and the greens were okay although just Bern spiked. However for the price we paid ?30 for two (we had a voucher) no complaints at all!Reviewer Rating
