Lush!
Haven’t played this course since 2018. Really enjoyed it. Some maintenance work going on around holes 5 & 6. The greens were the best I’ve played on this year. Tee boxes were immaculate as well. Fairways need a bit of TLC in places but most places are the same after the weather we’ve had this year. Lovely clubhouse & staff very friendly. Will be back soonHandicap: 12.8

Well worth a visit
An interesting course set in the heart of East Sussex with easy access from main roads. Easy walking with mainly tree lined but generous fairways. Greens true and in excellent condition. Would definitely play again.Reviewer Rating

What a difference a year makes.
Played last year in the long hot spell and vowed to come back when the course was greener and in better condition.Not disappointed with the course, very disappointed however with my golf that did not do the course justice.
I always feel one of the signs of a good course is that you can remember the majority of the holes as they are all different. Copthorne does fill this criteria in spades.
It is a course you do either need to play several times to tame it or have a very good course guide on your GPS as there are several ditches and streams around to catch the unwary.
All aspects of the course were very good, tees, bunkers and greens were all in great condition.
The greens were devilish fast when we played have some ‘interesting’ borrows and undulations to test your putting.
Good service in the pro shop. Very good bacon butty to start but have to say disappointing Scampi and Chips for lunch. No veg or salad and suspect cooking oil not hot enough. But I am being really picky!
Good practice facilities but some are across the road from the clubhouse.
Cannot wait to play it again next year on my golf tour.

Quality course
Really nice layout. Tree-lined so accuracy important. Usually in great condition on heath-like turf. Really nice relatively flat greens with plenty of subtle breaks. Always a pleasure to play(Round played: Nov 2018 - Score: 81 Handicap: 8.2)

Would play again when it is green!
Played in a society in July and with the weather being sunny since April expected parched fairways, hopefully tended green and a lot of run on the ball with some wicked bounces. Which is exactly what we got! with the course in the main being tree lined there was the odd patch of green about and in the main the fairways did run reasonably true. The green were very good you could pitch a ball in and it would hold. I think, for vert good reason, the greenkeeper was keeping the greens fairly long due to the weather which did make them slower than you would have expected.There is a good variety of holes and with a number of ditches around the course. Worth either having a course map or a good rangefinder with you. One suspects that many of the ditches will be water-filled in normal weather conditions.
The course in the main is across a busy road with only the 1st and 18th on the ,club house' side. Not an issue but it also noted there are some quite long walks from green to tee.
Clubhouse was well appointed and the food was to the usual golf club 'hearty' standard.
As has been mentioned you would be well advised to read the clubs dress code and dress accordingly. Not a problem for me as I do think (old git that I am!) that a standard of dress and appearance is good on a golf course.
Would certainly like to play again when the conditions are more akin to a normal British summer!

It has been along time since I last played here, and never regarded it as an enjoyable winter course, but the current course condition is excellent.
Tee boxes and greens especially were as good as I have seem them, clearly the course management have worked hard and invested wisely. A very enjoyable round.

Played this on a rare deal, otherwise quite expensive. Course condition excellent, bunkers had sand in them and mostly raked. greenkeepers were busy. Got round in just over 3 hrs with no delays. Will look forward to another offer and play again as soon as there is one. Very friendly and helpful staff everywhere. Brilliant.

A Barclays Charity Golf Day for Cancer UK and Brainwaves. The course was excellent nick, the greens where perfect a top day all round thank you very much.

Hadn't played here for a couple of years. Course was in excellent nick on our society day. A good challenge with the odd change to the course since I'd last gone round, notably the 2nd which is now a par 5 (prev 4). Greens were good and course had drained well despite recent rain. Easy walk as very flat. Excellent dinner post round.

Much improved
Copthorne has a strange layout, with a mojor road crossing after the first hole and then holes that criss-cross each other. This adds considerable interest and challenges. After some rain, the course has greened up magnificently. The road network makes it easy to get to.Reviewer Rating

First time round here. Course in good nick. Decent challenge with some interesting holes. Greens were decent and rolled well. Well looked after as part of a society by the club. Would play again.
