Going out the holes hug the coast line and you get the real links experience with some strange wind conditions making for some strange golf. Playing links is also fascinating how conditions change on each hole in terms of wind speed and direction.
The final few holes move away from the shoreline which gives a much needed and easier route in although the well places gorse bushes and bunkers still can catch you out!
Fantastic day out and well worth a visit. Definitely an hidden gem on the North coast of Wales

Conwy is now under winter reconstruction (again!). The bunkers are being readdressed, which seems to be an annual event as they don't seem to be able to get them right first time! Also many trees and bushes are currently being cut back and a new tee is being built on the dreaded 16th.This course is still not on GPS. Evidently Sky Caddie have tried to convince them of the benefits but apparently they are fearful that by submitting to this "new technology", it will affect the revenue received from the Stroke Saver course planners that they are committed to purchasing and selling over the next few years.
Thet really need to get with it!

The pot bunkers covering the greens are also in the fairways so placement of ball is paramount, land in one of these and your only concern is getting out.
Well defined holes and none the same, plenty of gorse on the last 6 holes and rough generally all over has an SSS of 74 set against the Par of 72 (off the whites).
Good borrows on the greens and quite quick although the wind (which blows most days) will determine how good you are at club selection.
Thoroughly recommended and a very good test for all abilities although in fairness genuine 28+ handicappers will suffer.

I was very surprised at the pace and receptivity of the greens. When playing an approach shot or a pitch shot into the green the ball did not hold and ran on a fair bit. However when on the green I found the pace particularly slow, especially for a links course of championship quality.
Good day out though and played with the same ball from start to finish! woo hoo
