One of our winter favourites!
College Pines (not Colledge!) is one of the local courses that we always play when the autumn/winter months are upon us.Found it a bit soft but very playable today, despite quite a bit of rain recently
At a flat rate of £20/round during the week, it's decent value and prides itself on being "the home of all year round golf".
I do wish they'd invest in an air compressor though!

Great condition during heatwave
Played the course last week during this long hot dry spell. The greens were absolutely excellent and held the ball very well in contrast to other courses played recently. This course really has come on over the years. As we all know great in autumn and winter but noe during summer the courses was in really good condition and well kept the greens were well watered and their green colour set them aside from the surrounding baked ground like an inviting oasis. Well done to all concerned.Reviewer Rating

Price £26 Saturday afternoon for greens which have been spiked and some areas around the greens just left bare and poorly maintained, not sure what happening at side of the green on hole 9, no mention on booking or reduced rates.
Generally played this course once or twice a year over the last few years and its in the worst condition I have seen, they look to just be taking the money cramming players on and not making the course better with the money received.

We played from the back tees which gave the course plenty of length.
All the tees except one (Par 3 15th) were in excellent condition.
The fairways were excellent.
The rough was not too thick but a fair punishment for not hitting the fairway.
The greens were all in excellent condition.
There is a good mix of short and long par 3's and 4's. All the par 5's have a good element of risk/reward if you fancy a shot at the green after a good drive.
Favorite holes were 1, 4, 8, 10 and 14 but that should take anything away from the others.
I recommend you go have a round.

I thoroughly recommend epecially during winter time. Holes worthy of note are 2, 8 (Reachable by a Driver/3 Wood probably to make the Birdie following a Bogey on the Par 3 before), 14, 15, 18.
Also turn up around 40 minutes before and make the most of a grass range and the short game area you can hit shots to from 70 yards plus.

If it used to be unwelcoming, it certainly isn't like that now. The young man in the Pro Shop was very courteous and friendly, as was the owner who I mistook for a dog walker!. The clubhouse is not pretentious (basically a wooden built construction which houses Pro Shop, 19th Hole and a small Dining Room. I loved all the memorabilia in the Bar & Dining Room. I can recommend the food for both quality and value for money.
Now to the course itself. I am a 28 handicapper (would be higher if I was in USA using their rules) and I played with a 25 handicapper on 16th March. They had said they might pair us up with 1 or 2 others which I know can be annoying. I am ok with it as long as better players don't get frustrated and I can understand why they want to get as many people through as possible.
The course was surprisingly dry, although there was standing water on a number of greens. Despite this the greens ran very true and fairly fast. They might be super fast if we get a warm summer. There is a reasonable amount of variation on the holes and direction changes. We both felt challenged by the course and said that it would be a great summer course with very pretty views.
We paid £24 each and thought it well worth the money. It is such a good winter course my only worry would be that sometimes it might be rammed. We will be back and may take the Associate Member offer which gives 10 rounds for £160
