Start with time on course 4 3/4 hours following a 5 ball and a group behind with 6, no course Marshalls to be seen.
Price £26 Saturday afternoon for greens which have been spiked and some areas around the greens just left bare and poorly maintained, not sure what happening at side of the green on hole 9, no mention on booking or reduced rates.
Generally played this course once or twice a year over the last few years and its in the worst condition I have seen, they look to just be taking the money cramming players on and not making the course better with the money received.

Greens had been recently hollowtined which I understand is a necessary process but bearing this in mind they could have made the pin positions a little friendlier. Quite a few were as little as 2 yards from the edge meaning we had some long putts making it even harder. Around the greens it was very patchy. Lots of lies where there was a tuft of grass behind the ball so had to chip with hybrid or deliberately scull it. College Pines is great in the winter when everywhere else is shut but we were very disappointed with the condition today especially having cost £26.

faiways tees and greens all disappointing.. 1 green was vandalised by motorbike, still in play .

greens in poor condition for the fees and fairways only average. Would not recommend playing here until later in the year

The greens were spiked the staff never mentioned this, there is no grass at all on the fairways - you can see rock through them in places - the rough is to thick and not enough semirough

A good winter course
College Pines is a good winter course. There is however a tendency for it to be over subscribed when weather inclement/holiday periods as it does remain open and very playable even in poor weather. There was a 25 minute delay in our tee time yesterday presumably due to this situation. The course was in good condition.Reviewer Rating

Maturing course

tough track but very enjoyable
The course is in good condition and the scenery superb. The pace of play was excellent and an enjoyable day. Unfortunately the bar etc has closed due to caterer being unable to make money with the latest Covid-19 restrictions.Reviewer Rating

College Pines is an excellent winter course. This in some ways is a distraction for regulars as it becomes incredibly popular as most courses are in poor condition and recently unplayable after poor weather.

A good test
College Pines is a great winter course and quite good in summer.It represents superb value for money but is not the easiest of courses to play. As a regular and usually playing off the competition tees it is a tough test in some wind conditions.The course is set up for play against the South west prevailing wind. Yesterdays round was
against a very strong North westerly and was extremely tough.
The beauty of College Pines though is even on a not so good day on the course the scenery is superb. Set in tree lined fairways and very tough rough after the second fairway cut it is indeed a tough test.

course very dry needs rain played it before was better will come back as I do like the layout and the clubhouse is good.

An island of golf in a sea of snow. The only course open in four counties and it played well. Some same-ish up and down holes but always a good test. Club well organised. Golf usually pretty slow. A good winter fallback option.

Always got ok greens, nothing brilliant but never in a bad state. A fairly open course in areas, good for scoring on. Some very good Par 5's and the Par 4 10th down hill is great.
The staff are pathetic, they will happily send you out in 5 balls to keep the money coming in. Very poorly run course indeed, pity it is a good course to play but be ready for a possible 5 and half hour round!!
