Tower Course
it is probably a now due to Covid over 18 months since I played The Tower. The easier of the two courses at Chichester but still a few holes that can catch the unwary and wayward. The last time I played I have to say that I was scathing about the state of the course in all aspects, Tees unkempt, Fairways and rough indistinguishable, bunkers almost sandless and the greens to be kind patchy. However playing the course recently there has been a marked improvement in the tidiness of the course and the greens have improved immeasurably, still not great but way better than before.
For maybe the high handicapper a good course.
A shout too for the pro-shop staff very helpful and the staff in the bar at both the start and finish of the round.
There is a but however. I played this in a society and we were all very good and socially distanced when we were in the club house and the marquee outside. We are told that the courses we play under the ownership of Maple Leaf Golf on a society day cannot give you both breakfast and lunch, you can have either or!
I really cannot see the difference between having a set lunch for the society members sat suitably distanced in the marquee and the sat at the same tables ordering food individually.
Only a few of the society members had lunch, so the golf club lost money. I would have thought given the recent lock downs that golf clubs would want to increase their cash flow. Seemingly not at Maple Leaf!
I am not sure whether this will change but if you look at the rules for booking from Maple Leaf they are not quite like the Rules of Golf in their length but close! If you are booking a society day beware,
In summary, nice course, nice staff, shame about the management!

Cathedral - Enjoyable course but more difficult than slope rating suggests. You certainly have to plot your way around with so much water and the 5th is a real minefield!Course needs a lot of work on all aspects and realistically there may just not be enough hands to do this.

Lovely course and club, shame about the greens!
This club has two courses, Cathedral and Tower.Cathedral being the harder of the two is a wonderful track and offers some amazing challenges! the hardest opening hole I think I've ever played is daunting, the 600 yard par 5 with a rife down the left and lakes down the right [Dog leg AFTER 2nd shot still leaves you about 160 into the green!]
I would recommend this club and course to anyone, if only they would manage their greens! the greens were in the condition of a poor municipal course! patchy, cracking, inconsistent, just generally poor.
Such a waste! love the track, love the challenge, shame about the greens!
