What the club says: The Goodwood Park layout was designed in 1987 by renowned golf architect Donald Steele and lies within the parkland surrounding Goodwood House. Indeed the 6,650 par 72 course has been carefully designed to blend in with the splendid surroundings of the Estate.
The Downs Course was laid out in 1914 by legendary golf architect, designer of Gleneagles and Carnoustie and five times winner of the Masters Championship, James Braid, The Downs Course features tricky doglegs and long sweeping greens which are both a treat and a challenge to true golf fans. The Downs was cleverly renovated in 2006 to retain the essential character of Braid’s concept while providing a challenge for the modern game for both amateurs and professionals alike.

Really matured, underestimated course
Really coming along and the changes made recently are excellent. Becoming a nice flat parkland course now, challenging and just great scenery all the way round at Goodwood. Beware of overhead flying objects :-)Reviewer Rating

Absolutely what you'd expect, a wonderful place
Ultra friendly and knowledgeable staff can't do enough to look after you at this rather swanky establishment in the setting of rolling downlands. Course in great condition, with plenty of challenges. Vintage style buggies are a great edition, as are rumble strips on paths to give you the impression you are reaching up The Hill between holes. Could be better signage to help first timers around. Food, excellent!Reviewer Rating

Nice Views
Opening six holes slowly bring you to a long uphill climb to the seventh and from then on you are either downhill or uphill. Greens had been dressed and this made stopping the ball and putting a challenge.Reviewer Rating

Very open but challenging course!
Great course, and we were very lucky with the weather as well, which made it even better. Some tough little holes that required a bit of thinking rather than just whacking it!Reviewer Rating

Goodwoo. Downs course
Played via a charity auction bid, otherwise it looks to be very pricey if you're not a member.Got there early, large carpark, attractive clubhouse and pro shop. Had a lovely lunch, food was very good and reasonably priced ie ?16 burger.
Driving range and practice green were used before starting , then hit the Downs course.
It's a beautiful course set over rolling countryside. Some fantastic holes and not too long, however there are a few blind tee shots so buy a map to save leaving yourself blocked out. A second visit would be nice but we paid ?60 and the chap who made the charity donation paid comfortably more. Looks to be about ?140 for an experience day. It's a nice course but it's not that nice IMHO.
Oh if you do play it is VERY hilly in places if you walk and we got lost as signage between tees is a bit hit or miss.

Blind & Sloping
It's so long since I've played this course that I didn't recognise most of it especially the front 9,with it being so dry at the moment with the blind holes and the slopes you were getting penalise
for hitting good shots as the fairways were very hard and fast and the slopes compounded the problem.

Just an amazing course, so well kept and greens were first class. We were in a works golf day with 24 players, and so well looked after. The only problem being a group of impatient members behind firing shots up between us!

Played both courses and they were in great condition. The Downs is the harder of the two but don't think the park is a soft touch, it can bite you at anytime.

Sloooooow….
Great venue. Positives were the fables and the fantastic condition of fairways and tee boxes. Greens however although in good conditions were very slow. Pace of play was bad 5:15 hours off a weekday midday tee is far too slow. We kept up with pace of play as a 4 ball in buggies but a marshal told us to let a two ball behind us through on the 7th (I think) and he would “get them through the 4 balls in front”. Well, he didn’t, we then sat behind the 2 ball for the remainder of the round, pointless. By the 17th, there was a group on the green, the 2 ball on the tee us and then two further groups all queuing to play the hole, sadly, took the gloss off an otherwise great day out.Reviewer Rating

Great downland course
What a superb golf course. We played early morning after heavy rain the evening before and the course drainage is top class, as there was no evidence of water anywhere. Goodwood do everything in style, including their amazing buggies. Highly recommended.Reviewer Rating
