Charming little course.

I was unsure what to expect from the course, having only a couple of somewhat negative reviews and a poor quality YouTube review to go by.
I have to say I was delightfully surprised.
Is this the best parkland course I’ve ever played on? No.
Did I need more than a 6 iron at any point? No.
Did I play a tee shot off level ground? Thrice I think.
Are most of the holes no more than an easy wedge shot long? Yes.
Were the greens cut to the same length as the fairways on my home course? Yes, but they’re consistent.
Are the holes particularly challenging? No for the most part but they are deceptively interesting with their postage stamp greens and occasionally tight trees and rough. There are undulations in front of a couple of greens that hide the base of the pin, making a precise approach tough. Trees have been allowed to flourish in a way that forces careful shot and ball flight on the shorter holes. I loved the Big Wood hole, with its charming cathedral of fir trees backing the green.
The 9th hole is one of the most unusual that I’ve played…a dog leg where the turn happens about 60 yards down the fairway. There’s a mowed line through the forest if you dare to take it…get it right as my playing partner did and you have a short pitch to the green for a birdie. Or do as I did and play the hole as a dog leg. But then, you play a cracking 125 pitching wedge to 10 feet from the hole and find yourself pin high under a small tree. Where else do you land that close and find a hazard. I can see the glint in the designers eye as they picked the planting position and set up the challenge. Risky player or not, you’re contending with trees.
If you love golf, and take the course for what it is, you’ll enjoy every minute.
If you’re really lucky, you’ll also learn about R&A Rule 16.2… a first for me, and the bees were left well alone.

Good Fun

Good for beginners and those who want to swing a club. No massive challenges for competent golfers but if you don't like it don't play it :O)
I like it and so does my other half

great for a swing or a beginner

Not the most challenging for the even reasonable golfer but for beginners or those like myself who just need to swing a club again its a pleasant day out
