The course used to be called Gilnahirk, and was 9 holes, most of which make up the back 9 of the new course. The first 9 holes are completly new, and are nicely sculpted. It'll be lovely when its a little more mature. The 2 halves of the course have a different feel to them which add some variety and a challenge. Can be a bit damp sometimes and as the name might hint towards, its really windy sometimes. When the weather is good though the views on the back 9 are spectacular, you can see Scrabo GC to the east, and Mahee Island to the south, and probably a few on the coast of Scotland.
Theres a nice new restaurant and the clubhouse is only a year or two old too.

Don't be put off by this being a municipal course. It is well maintained and offers some great challenging holes. Please give it a go at least once, you wont be disappointed.Reviewer Rating

Nice course shame about the winter mats
Very nice course, weather has been wet this last while and the course still played well, greens where really good. Only thing I will say I was disappointed was having to hit every shot off a winter tee, not just on the tee box, on the fairway and in the rough. I understand it's to protect the fairways but it's not for meReviewer Rating

A diamond in the Castlereagh Hills
For a municipal course this wee course will hold its own against many of the overly-priced "private" courses out there. Will suit golfers of all levels.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 89 Handicap: 18.2)

Although it is a municipal course it is well maintained, greens are in good condition and a lot of money has went into improving the course in general. I have played a few private courses that would struggle against it.
