Not what it used to be

Played Burnham Beeches in the last week, I appreciate that they had some course work done but I thought this was the poorest condition I have ever seen the course in over the years.

The greens had a lot of disease on them and considering their course maintenance was last month, they were tining them again.

The fairways had recovered considerably well considering the weather conditions. They had also been slit and seeded as well but didn’t seem that they had been watered so a slightly strange exercise to do halfway.

Lies around the greens were extremely poor, it is like the greenkeepers are scared to go out with a can of spray paint to highlight areas of GUR. Missing a green by 5 yards can leave you with a scrappy bare lie with no other option that to putt off of it! A small piece of advice also - don’t go long on the 12th hole either, you will be faced with a long strip of bare lie between the green and next tee which should be roped off but again, it would appear they are scared to do so.

I won’t be rushing back to Burnham, if at all, which is a shame because I Have previously enjoyed playing here.

Hospitality wise, the pro shop was standard. When ordering food, the catering staff (I assume the lady manager of so) was quite abrupt and rude and if anything, we felt an inconvenience for ordering food and service with a smile does not exist here!

This was our first time on the course. It’s one of the best we have played (and we’ve played many !). Some very interesting and picturesque holes. Course was busy but we didnt get held up once, and we had buggies !
Food was also really good at reasonable
Prices.

Beautiful Burnham Beeches

Played in the Seniors Invitational Open and I have to say, what a fantastic venue Burnham Beeches is. From the minute you walk onto the course from the dar park you are treated as a fully paid up member. The food and drink before and after golf was superb and could not be faulted. The course had a couple of areas roped off due to works, but apart from that the course was in excellent condition. A great variety of holes and a true test for mid to high handicap players. I will definitely return to play again

one of Bucks' finest

fabulous greens, lovely parkland setting with lots of elevation changes. Plays longer than the yardage suggests. Currently temp tee on 2nd but doesnt detract from overall experience. Great vfm with county card rate, expensive otherwise

Lovely course but not worth £65

Really friendly welcome from the club shop. Practice facilities were getting updated, grass facilities so that was good. Course is nice with a few challenging holes, greens are true and in great condition. Played better courses in the area for less than the £65 I got charged here. Wouldn't play it again for that price.

Best In The Area

Played here July 2019

This is my favorite course in the area .Very secluded , tree lined , undulating in places & a lovely mix & balance of holes .Three par 5's ,five good par 3's & three shortish par 4's .
My favorite holes on the visit were the downhill par 3 3rd & the curving dogleg par 4 8th but there are many others to choose from .
The course was in superb condition ,the best i have seen anywhere for ages .Greens were lovely to putt on & a perfect pace , fast but not silly fast . The immaculate lush fairways were like carpets with the ball sitting up on them .
If you haven't played here before give it a try..

We played here recently on a Society day organised through a member of the club. The course is very nice with some very challenging holes in places and some easier ones to give you your confidence back! Greens and fairways in excellent condition. The clubhouse is very nice and we enjoyed a delicious meal afterwards as part of the package. It's not the sort of club you just walk in off the street and play, but if you find a member to play with, it's well worth the time.

Burnham Beeches - Great hospitality and a nice parkland course. Very p

Tucked away on a small potholed B road you finally enter the car park and then admire the view. Very nice club house. Very friendly staff. We played as a society and payed green fees of £33 (with a member as host) with food on top (the food was exceptional!).

The club house makes a lovely photo to start your round.

The course is nice. plenty of trees! The first half is the better nine. Cracking opening hole so dips down steeply to a beautiful big green out of view from the first tee.

Enjoyed the front nine the most – many unique holes.
1st hole is visually great once you get to the marker post with a nice downhill approach to a beautiful green. 2nd is tough righ to left dogleg up the hill . 3rd a nice mid/long iron to a partially unsighted green
4th is a beautiful hole in the summer with the elevated tee over rhododendrons – v picturesque. But still nice dog leg left in winter!
Favourite is the par 3 6th with an amazing jaw dropping green with so many levels!
7th is short and a great test – don’t lose your ball in the trees to the right like I did! Fatal!

I think the first nine are all great holes.
Back nine starts with a cracking par 10th is a really visually stunning par 3 with a sleepered bunker in the front to catch your eye (bit like Royal North Devon’s 4th hole)…..more a visual distraction that a hazard.

Not many unique holes on the back nine but the 14th needs special attention. Long par 4 needing a good fade off the tee to give you a chance to hit the blind sunken green -such an amazing approach down the bank covered in odd shaped hedges (well worth a photo!)
Nice playing back to the lovely clubhouse on 18.
A few too many ordinary holes on back nine but still really good course. the overall whole experience was good. Not an overly difficult course.
Overall the hospitality matches the golf course.

We payed £33 as we were a society and a member was the host so not sure on full price but it was worth £33 not sure if I’d pay full price - maybe in the summer.
The 3 course lunch was exceptional! Fishcake, pork & roast potatoes and apple crumble to die for!
