Excellent Work in progress

The course was always brilliant. A good test and in fantastic condition. However, for our competition the course was not yet in pristine condition. Where works had been carried out especially around the greens the grass was being allowed to grow and it was too long. By example I ended up 8" off the green in the grass above a bunker on the 10th hole (very good design changes by the way). My ball was 3" below the top of the grass and had no shot and this happened on a number of other occasions whjere works had been done. However, when the new grass has established itself and the greenkeepers can cut it to the appropriate height it will be fantastic but not on the day I played. The greens was smooth, medium paced and true. The fairways were nice trimmed well but the winter had not done it justice as there were too many bare patches in them. In 4-6 weeks the course will be fantastic and I will make sure I ciome back again.

The course had changed from last year with a temporary hole added as the 6th Hole was taken out of play. Two temporary greens were also in play. None of this was disclosed beforehand. Did not see anything about the changes on the website which just said the course was open. Not at all happy with lack of disclosure. Felt I paid a premium for something that was not delivered.

Lovely course but not worth £65

Really friendly welcome from the club shop. Practice facilities were getting updated, grass facilities so that was good. Course is nice with a few challenging holes, greens are true and in great condition. Played better courses in the area for less than the £65 I got charged here. Wouldn't play it again for that price.

Not the most challenging course in general, but with a couple of brutish holes (2 and 12 in particular). Generally wide areas for landing off the tee, but a few blind shots to the green, or at least shots where you can't see the base of the pin, which I'm not a huge fan of. However, where this course really scores is its condition. It is in superb nick, probably the best condition of any non-championship course I've played in the UK. Bravo.

SHOC Golf Day

We played in the above day which is a very worthy local charity. I had not played at Burnham Beeches for approximately 35 years, but always remembered it with fondness. Anyway, my recollections of the course were spot on as it was as good as I remembered, lush fairways, excellent greens and a lovely welcoming clubhouse. The Food , service and ambience was great and I cannot wait till my next visit which will definitely be quicker than the last one.

Set in the marvellous Burnham Beeches Site of Special Scientific Interest, the layout of the course is excellent and sympathetic to the natural contours of the woodland.
I played the course on 12th May 2023 as part of a charity event and found it in very good condition for the time of year. The greens were firm with perhaps some early season unevenness. The fairways were well prepared and a pleasure to play from, in contrast to some other courses in the area. The rough around the greens was a little longer than ideal but perhaps I’m at fault for guiding my ball into its midst.
The clubhouse and changing rooms are first class and they present a fine example of the early days of the sport’s development. The general ambience of the club was warm and welcoming without the malaise of stuffiness and exclusivity portrayed by some nearby clubs.
I have played the course now 3 times and I look forward to future opportunities to enjoy a day there

We played on a very windy, slightly wet day. The course was lush, especially the rough. It is also very hilly, most notable on the tee shots. If you can’t drive your ball to the top of the hill in front of you, you won’t have a good score. This was a frustration for a number of the ladies. The grounds, greens, and bunkers were all in good condition. We had a meal for our event and the food was very good and plentiful. The clubhouse was busy with its members. Better weather would have helped, but we enjoyed the course and the club very much.
