A lovely setting but the course is well past its sell by date. Typical English parkland course that must have been glorious in its hay day but sadly it has clearly been neglected in recent times. The bunkers are unkempt (not even any rakes to be seen), the fairways chewed up with divot marks, there are no yardage markers on the course at all (even a dab of yellow paint on the fairway at say 150 yards would be a help) and the greens would barely bother the stimp meter. I reckon my garden lawn is quicker. That said, there are some lovely holes in a great setting. Sitting out on the patio having a post match pint one can only wonder what it must have been like when the course was looked after. Instead there is a petition at the bar asking for signatures to prevent the course from closing. Clearly a indication of why the council don;t bother maintaining it. A huge shame as with some investment and tender loving care, it could be on a par with many other local courses.

Good local course. Not busy during week. It is currently proposed to close soon so make the most of it while you can.

The course is pretty well maintained for the traffic that passes through. The club house is pretty basic but has most things in the shop you will need. All in all not bad if you just fancy getting out and playing if your local.

Awful, not a golf course but a public park with some greens on. If you want to try golf for the first time without any pressure then this is possibly a good place to try as it is cheap.
My experience was of dog walkers walking across the fairway. Other players drinking cans of beer while they were playing. Extremely slow play and congested. Greens were in an awful state. Grass growing through the bunkers. The score cards were paper photocopies and one per the four ball.

The course is a nice course and are some good looking holes but I don't like the fact there are no yard marks along the fairway, if money was spent on this course I feel could be a very good course and shouldn't let people on with jeans and trainers

Good for the money you pay some really good golf holes on the back 9. Not so sure about 250 yard par 3 on the front though.

A disappointing experience. No complaints about the staff. The guy in the pro shop gave our group a warm welcome, apologised about the lack of a course guide and wished us a good round. Being new to the course It would have been helpful to.have had a guide but by no means essential.\ We went out to the practice area to hit a few balls but the advertised practice nets turned out to be a neglected cage with a bit of holey old cloth hung up in it. So we decided to give it a miss. Again, not esssential but...\Out on the course there were no yardage markers, which wouldn\'t have been a problem if we\'d had a course guide to consult. The bunkers were very poorly maintained and not one of them had a rake. One did have an empty plastic Coke bottle nestling in it though. \ Now, I like dogs, but I\'m not sure I want one running across the green at full pelt when I\'m about to chip onto it. To be fair, it brought some much needed comic relief after experiencing one of the aforementioned rock-hard rakeless bunkers on the previous hole and the website does make it clear the course is open to the public. Stuff like that (and the kids jumping in the bunkers next to the 18th green) are part of the charm I suppose. \ The greens and the fairways are quite well maintained and the back nine is enjoyable, which only makes the shortfalls of this course all the more disappointing: it could be so much better. It just requires a little bit of time and money. As the website will tell you, Beckenham Place is one of the busiest pay and play courses in England. Indeed, there seemed to be groups teeing off every 5-10 minutes from very early in the morning,. With each golfer paying £26 a pop they must be raking it in (if they can find a rake that is). Maybe Glendale Golf is using it to pay for the redevelopment of one of their other clubs in Richmond Park.

Greens were soft but played quick. Wind didn't help play but fairways played firm.

A pay and play course that has some delightful holes. Some holes are very easy and some quite difficult. Overall the course is less testing than most but still requires accuracy for you to score well. The condition could be better but it is still quite playable and value for money. The greens play slow and suffer from damage but again they are playable. The club house could be so much better, spectacular even with huge investment. The setting of the course is a very pleasing parkland in the middle of south east London. A bug bear for me is the absence of any yardage marker posts. The staff at the course are super friendly and overall this course represents good value for money.
