Believe course is being sold end of 2016, and feels like the council have let it go to ruin. In poor condition and can play much better courses for the same price. Shane as there are some good holes, but poor condition of courses soils this

Beckenham Place Park Golf course is quite short but situated in very pleasant parkland. It is controlled by Lewisham council who have let the condition of the course deteriorate over the last few years to such a state that very few golfers now use it. This has encouraged Lewisham Council to follow their plan to close the golf course at the end of this year. I will be sad to lose this fine and picturesque venue that I have been playing since 1970.

(Round played: Apr 2016 - Score: 90 Handicap: )
The course was very wet, which obviously cannot be helped but that is no reason for the state of the bunkers, there was more grass and debris than there was sand, I also understand its a public park so you are always going to get people walking, there were a lot of dogs running around, which I don't have a problem with as I am a dog owner myself, however this should reflect in the cost of the round, £28 is far too expensive, it should be more around the £15 mark, I would play this course again at £15 but definitely not at £28.

The course has left to rack and ruin. Which is a shame, this used to be a very nice course

Awful, not a golf course but a public park with some greens on. If you want to try golf for the first time without any pressure then this is possibly a good place to try as it is cheap.

My experience was of dog walkers walking across the fairway. Other players drinking cans of beer while they were playing. Extremely slow play and congested. Greens were in an awful state. Grass growing through the bunkers. The score cards were paper photocopies and one per the four ball.

A disappointing experience. No complaints about the staff. The guy in the pro shop gave our group a warm welcome, apologised about the lack of a course guide and wished us a good round. Being new to the course It would have been helpful to.have had a guide but by no means essential.\ We went out to the practice area to hit a few balls but the advertised practice nets turned out to be a neglected cage with a bit of holey old cloth hung up in it. So we decided to give it a miss. Again, not esssential but...\Out on the course there were no yardage markers, which wouldn\'t have been a problem if we\'d had a course guide to consult. The bunkers were very poorly maintained and not one of them had a rake. One did have an empty plastic Coke bottle nestling in it though. \ Now, I like dogs, but I\'m not sure I want one running across the green at full pelt when I\'m about to chip onto it. To be fair, it brought some much needed comic relief after experiencing one of the aforementioned rock-hard rakeless bunkers on the previous hole and the website does make it clear the course is open to the public. Stuff like that (and the kids jumping in the bunkers next to the 18th green) are part of the charm I suppose. \ The greens and the fairways are quite well maintained and the back nine is enjoyable, which only makes the shortfalls of this course all the more disappointing: it could be so much better. It just requires a little bit of time and money. As the website will tell you, Beckenham Place is one of the busiest pay and play courses in England. Indeed, there seemed to be groups teeing off every 5-10 minutes from very early in the morning,. With each golfer paying £26 a pop they must be raking it in (if they can find a rake that is). Maybe Glendale Golf is using it to pay for the redevelopment of one of their other clubs in Richmond Park.

Played here a couple of years ago and enjoyed the course, if not the facilities, and was looking forward to going back again. Shouldn't have bothered. Took two of us nearly 5 hours on a Saturday. The greens were vitually unplayable, with patches of weeds and dandelions in abundance, and tyre tracks across several of them. The tees and fairways were not much better.

Temporary greens in the middle of summer? That's what this place offers as their normal greens! They must have lost the green mowers because this course has a very nice physical layout but is completely and totally ruined by greens that are truly awful at best.

And I am not being to hard here, these greens are just plain terrible and easily the very worse greens I've ever seen anywhere in the UK or the USA where I've played most of my golf for the past 35 years before moving to the UK this year.

I don't care if they have a zillion people who play this course, it's crowded, uncontrolled, and a waste of time.

Nice course although needs to be maintained more frequently and thoroughly. The rough in some parts is far to overgrown.
