WOW.What a difference since i last played here 2 years ago.The greens were much better and they ran true with hardly any bumps and the bunkers actually had sand in them.Fairways was looking nice aswell.They do a good deal there aswell,12 pound for 18 holes and a beer after 4.Will defo be going back very soon cause its only gonna get better there

I had a good game of golf at Basildon last week. I think the course has been taken over recently, because there was lots of activity and things going on. It was in good nick and a good price, I'm definitely going to go back.

Tough trek, some narrow and undulating fairways, some narrow greens, well looked after, good staff, good practice facilities and great value for money. Well worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

Basildon Golf Club
Wow what a turn around, I hadn’t played this course for years and I could not believe how it had changed. I believe it got taken over and hats off to whoever took what used to be a neglected lost cause. They have an amazing putting green, the greens were superb to put on and the whole course was in good condition. Club house was good and the staff and green staff were freindly. Keep it straight !
Some great work done to the course since my last visit two years ago. Quite a trek and a buggy might be in order for those less fit. Tight fairways, plenty dog legs, greens in great nick and good amount of sand in the bunkers. Off fairway is punishing with lush grass and trees.Keep.It. Straight !!

Never played it before but would again
Tee'd off with my son at 7.30 a.m. and the course was quiet. I enjoyed this course which is hilly but manageable (I am 51 and carried my bags all the way, 5.44 miles from car back to car). Course is varied and in good order with some challenging holes. The greens look pretty tardy but my son and I both commented how quick they were. Some grass cuttings in some places but fine with me. One of the best in Essex
The course has changed much in recent years and i have played over 20 times this year and at 18HCP it stretches me. I look forward to playing it each week and bettering my stableford. Other courses i play do not excite me as much as Basildon . There are a number of courses where playing once in a while is enough. Greens are in generally very good condition. If you get a par on the 1st you must be an excellent player.Reviewer Rating

Pricey at £23 for a Saturday afternoon, course is good, very hard for a high handicapper. Missed holes 13,14,15 as we saw no sign directing to those holes. Instead we walked straight to the 16th and carried on round, had no idea we was playing 16th as most holes don't have any number on it at tee. Mentioned in club after bad they were good enough to offer a buggy to go back and play the 3 holes, but couldn't be bothered. They knew exactly what had happened when I said we missed 3 holes, if they know people are missing them, then they need clear directions.

The coarse has improved since the winter but still needs a lot of work but it is heading in the right direction.it's a pity there are a lot of youngsters on the coarse who have not paid and you can quite often be sharing a hole with them or watching out for golf balls flying past your head.
The prices go from one extreme to the other it's overpriced at 25 pound a round on a Saturday morning but you can get a fantastic twilight at 12 pound a round after 4oc 7 days a week and you also get a free pint of beer with this price.we played the twilight and its excellent value for money.

The new management team are doing lots of work on the course,drainage, clearing undergrowth,renewing or removing bunkers,laying footpaths,improving greens etc. But you shouldn't make the mistake of thinking this makes it easy! This is a challenging course which will need careful play to get round with a good score. We are seeing continuing improvements following the wettest winter on record and expect, over the next few months, that the course will achieve its full potential. As a member at Basildon I can't fault the friendly and helpful staff and the currently basic facilities have improvements in the planning process.

Very surprised with the course and the service, it was both excellent. The course is noticeably undergoing some work and improvements are apparent in every part of the business. A real pleasure to play with a friendly reception. The golf wasn't that great but with some more practice I'm sure to improve next time!!! A Special thanks to James who was very helpful, and nothing was too much trouble.

I last played this course about a year ago and was pleasantly impressed by the changes that have happened since my last game here. The team managing it currently are making great progress, the overall course was tidy and well kept. The greens were in good condition. The guys in the clubhouse were friendly and helpful, and I felt it was good value for money.

Played this course in august and was really disappointed, really poorly looked after. Although now the course is definitely improving rapidly under new management. Is a challenging course with tight sloping fairways. Will go back again in a few months to see what more progress has been made.

My favourite course!
Played here for about 15 years from late 70s. Lovely interesting course. Friendly to beginners whilst still being a good challenge to good players my best round was 79 so I''m no expert but was pretty decent eventually!Reviewer Rating

Basildon
Basic clubhouse with limited breakfast options. Staff friendly and good atmosphere mixing with members. Course was challenging, greens run really true, good grass coving on tees and fairways, bunkers either had too much sand or not enough. Enjoyed the day will definitely re visitReviewer Rating
