Very bad course. Have never played here before but almost every aspect of the course was in poor condition. I appreciate the Winter has been very wet but this course was in disrepair throughout. The greens were the worst i've ever played on. Ball jumping everywhere. It was similar to mowing your garden lawn very tightly and expecting it to look like a green.

To be fair there were alot of green keepers out on the course working. I don't know what problems they have experienced recently but for £18 midweek i'll never play there again when there is decent courses around for that money.

Apologies to the course for this review, but that is the state of things. Had I of read a review like this before hand I wouldn't have wasted my time/money.

AVOID! Don't waste your time or money, the course has the potential to be very good with some tricky layouts and tough sloping fairways. However that is where it ends, the tee boxes and greens were in a terrible state, with holes and cracks on all the greens and the tee boxes were either bald or over grown with very few markers, there was rubbish everywhere. The signage is shocking, we couldn't find holes 14-16, the 13th green is next to the 17th with no apparent route for the 14th.

Paid £18 for this felt like I was robbed, do yourself a favour and go play at any of the other courses in the area.

Shocking is putting it politely even with a TeeOffTimes discount is was too much for the condition of the course.

Tee Boxes: No markers on most of the holes
Fairway: Don't look like they have been cut for a while
Greens: Bald, cracks and full of weeds on everyone and some looked like they had been peppered with a machine gun, no need to worry about repairing pitch marks. Bunkers, I've seen better sand on Southend beach and the GUR seemed to be bunkers that have just overgrown.

No signage to say where the next tee is, we couldn't find holes 14/15/16 but as it was so bad went from 13 to 17 to get it over with.

Even when the ball went in the semi rough impossible to find. Course littered with beer cans and no bins to put any rubbish in.

The practice putting green and chipping green is the best of a worst experience.

We booked via teeofftimes.co.uk and when we arrived there was no record of us booking so a good job is was not busy.

It's a shame as the layout is very good, the holes are not boring just seems that no care is taken with it at all.

A waste of £18 and a Saturday afternoon my garden is in better condition.
Hope the new owners realise what a decent course it could be.

Could be the worst course I have ever played! Tee boxes uncut - grass taller than ball on tee! lost balls in semi rough, no yard markers, no course signs/maps.
greenkeppers were out and about cutting rough but did not stop for us to play once, greens hard and looked like they hade been unwatered for a few weeks

Public wandering around the fairway with their dogs. People riding through course on bikes!
Nobody has done any maintenance all year by the looks of it but today a groundsman followed us around and was on 9 of the 17 greens we went to. (Oh, and they didnt bother stopping or turning machinary off most of the time). I say 17 holes.... the 14th is missing: they play to two holes on the 18th at the moment. Nobody mentioned this at the start of the game... it's just one of our groundsman friends happened to mention it....

very challenging course, but very poor conditions when visited.Fairways had not been cut, so took an age to locate your ball, when you could find it. The only good thing to say about this course is the putting greens were excellent.

Sadly in poor condition. Some money spent on this course, (or even just on a lawn mower), and this course could be a real gem as the layout is great. Good welcome but unless you are getting a deal or using a voucher then you will be spending more than you should.

Not a lover of courses where even good shots are punished. Ground was rock hard and bumpy so keeping the ball on the fairway was very difficult. Rough was very rough leading to plenty of sideways chips. The greens were very poor, dotted with pitch marks and divots .. yes divots! No rakes in the bunkers and very few tee markers. Jeans, football shirts and jogging bottoms were the norm for the day we played. Even at £8.50 I don't think it is value for money.

Haven't played it for over a year and will never play it again. Terrible rubbish course. Not at all looked after. Greens in terrible condition, fairways not mown. Some holes even had no flags so it really was hit and hope. Only £6 online but to be honest wouldn't play it for free

Played this course many years ago and didn't like it then. Why I went back....? Run by the council. If you dont mind people walking their dogs or kids pplaying on the fairways then your fine. Course is well designed and could be good with some money spent. Avoid.

JANUARY GOLF

Played Friday 5th December - most other Golf Clubs in the area closed due to too much rain, but Basildon GC was open ?28.00 each - it was nice to play after a month, but the course should have been closed - parts are a mudbath, much damage is being done to the course, understand they need money but...... Will not play there again, in near future - until weather is better
