not good

Course really poorly looked after. Greens were a mess and bunkers may as well have been concrete!

Well, a huge disappointment this turned out to be. The course itself isn't bad, nice greens and fairways. Speaking as a fairly high handicapper I didn't find too difficult - for the 8 holes we played.

Now for the disappointment and the reason we only played 8 holes. Simply put the amount of people they had on the course is a joke. I thought the Warwickshire was oversubscribed but this is something else.
It took us 2hrs 20m to play 7 holes. 7!
At one point there was us and 3 other groups in front waiting to tee off.

Purely for this reason I'll never go back. If you're a paid up member there you have my sympathy.

Absolutely ridiculous !!
Played the first hole then got held up, thought it was because one of the players in front wasn't the best. Soon became apparent it was just the volume of players the club had tried to cram onto the course! At one point we were waiting at the tee behind three groups whilst another three groups were standing waiting to play their shots at various points on the hole. Took 4 hrs 45 mins to get round, will definitely NOT be returning. Obviously a case of getting as many players on as once to fill the till.

(Round played: Oct 2013 - Score: 99 Handicap: 13)

poor course not very well looked after with it being a hotel course where they have a lot of golf breaks, but very tired looking course, not looked after, the weekend was spent with good people but the course left a hell of a lot to be desired. The course is designed for slow play over 6 hours to complete our rounds, fairways not cut and greens not cut or rolled the whole time we were their. seems the new owners are only interested in taking as much money as possible!

It was ok

Fairways were OK, Greens were very inconsistent and require some remedial work. Bunkers also need a bit of work. The course is not a technical course and could do with some tweaks in order to make it more challenging. I fear that the course maybe suffering with a lack of investment. However the most important thing of any club is that the staff and members are very friendly and welcoming which was certainly the case at Abbey Park.

Rough in need of attention

Visited here in June 2021; played in a 2 ball behind 4 members. Waited on every tee, approach shot, appalling etiquette from the 1st tee onwards, round took just under 5 hours. Nice course but the rough needs attention, grass cut but not collected so you literally had to step on your ball to have any chance of finding it. Will not be rushing back to The Abbey, far better courses to play in the area, and members we encountered were the worst in over 20 years of playing, spoilt a day off from work!

The pictures on the website make the course look very good but in reality, we were disappointed with it. The course was wet in many places and lots of mud on the walkways, not sure what it will be like later in winter. Lots of water but not a lot in play. Rough was just a little too high, constantly searching for your ball when it was just off the fairway. Pace of play very slow, we ended up behind two groups of members who joined together to make a 5 ball!! Greens in good condition though, bunkers short of sand in the middle, ok around the edges. The course just felt a bit sad. Unusual layout with two longish walks between a housing estate. Did not use the clubhouse. May give it another try during summer.

Handicap of 14 the course was dumped on a house estate really poor designed the grass is never cut short, fairways feel like the rough and the rough feel like a horses field, poor drainage and bunkers I have had more sand in my kids play table than all the bunkers put together

Abbey was expensive considering the grass on the fairways was too long. I will return when they cut the grass!

An enjoyable round on a sunny day couldn't hide some poor greens even when considering the neccessary tyning. Greens lack consistency with the 2nd particularly poor. Most of the water on the course may look pretty but not many of the features could be classed as a hazard! On a positive note the fairways were in good condition and the staff friendly. However if I'd paid £30, instead of £15 on 2 fore 1, I'd have wanted my money back.

I played the course for the first time in two years in mid March 2011 and it has been altered ready to enable chalets to be built around the original 3rd hole. The new 2nd hole is awful and the front nine is now 8 holes with the back having 10 holes. The extra hole on the back has been created under telegraph poles and lines which interfere with most approach shots to the green. The green is small and shoved into a corner. Generally the course was not in particularly good condition with alot of perimeter ground damage to a number of greens and the greens were probably suffering from winter use with putting unpredicatable at best.
On the up side it was only £15 for the round.
