What the club says: Opened in 1933 Pype Hayes is a popular mature course with plenty of subtly curved fairways lined with gorse and broad leafed trees, firm contoured greens and lots of deeply sanded bunkers. The key to most of the par 4's is to play an iron for accuracy off the tee as the greens are still reachable with a middle to short iron. Don't be tempted to attack the pin on holes 3,4 and 11 as missing the green often means a dropped shot due to the out of bounds. Play safe and be content with hitting the green, once on the greens you'll find them a joy to putt on. It is a course which is very forgiving and, apart from a few ditches, has no water hazards. It is not very hilly, but there are sufficient gradients to make it interesting.

excellent municipal
Played this coarse many times...its been 3 years since I played, so this was my go to coarse.
based upon previous visits i would give it a 9 out of 10.
Some work is need on areas that should be designated G.I.R, however, I'm being picky.

Poor Services
Golf course is improving, but still a long way to go with greens and bunkers. Slow play behind members who refuse to let you through when they are 2 holes behind. Service poor, staff do not seem to know how use the the system. Took a long time to book in for golf, pricing complicated and staff unsure of what to charge. Different pricing for online, members or not or if you book in advance.Reviewer Rating

Staff were slow in booking us in for our golf and didn't seem to understand how the systems work. Not one of them knew how to pour a pint of Guinness, all 4 pints were served short. Surly attitude when asked to top them up.Reviewer Rating

Good municipal. Interesting to play.
A good municipal course if a little bit rough around the edges e.g. the odd bunker, but they've done some work lately. An interesting and varied course to play, some flat, some hilly. Back 9 I'd say is tougher - and longer. Lovely clubhouse, cafe, etc.Reviewer Rating

Improvement / Excellent Facilities
Played the course last week, must say I can see an improvement, however bunkers need some TLC! Great value for money, clubhouse has a nice warm home feeling about it, nice draft beer line up, food is excellent...Full English one of the best in Sutton Coldfield, plus don't have to be a member. Will be visiting again soon, 8/10.Reviewer Rating

Disappointing
As a group of golfers, we have been playing at Pype Hayes Golf Course for many years but stopped playing at this course 2 to 3 months ago as the bunkers were not being maintained either full of water or with no sand. Yesterday 3 of us returned to play the course again to find that none of the bunkers had been touched, and nearly all had a blue post placed in the centre presumably indicating a free drop. To be fair the fairways and the majority of the greens were in reasonable condition, but MyTime needs to spend some time and money putting the bunkers back into working order.Reviewer Rating

Good layout for beginners in particular . Course in shocking condition . Bunkers unplayable , greens crazy slow and were like putting on fairways , rough too long and unkempt . A shame really , just needs some money spent on maintenance.Reviewer Rating

The course is so neglected it is a crime. I had played here before but didn't recognise it. Admittedly the wet weather has played a big part, but even the basics were not upheld. Very slow greens in poor condition. The fairway went straight to a jungle rough and the course layout was hard to discern. It was much better as a municipal with care and love applied to the maintenance. It needs a lot of work. We traveled a good distance, but won't be rushing back. Members deserve better. Buggy broke.

Good in summer terrible in winter
The course is an absolute mudbath in the winter months flooded everywhere, if they are opening the course in these conditions they should lower the price as £26 is far to expensive for these conditionsReviewer Rating
