a beautiful setting
A group of friends and I played Cardrona in the height of summer, so the conditions were quite challenging. The course was very brown, which made the ball travel for miles on the fairways but the greens also lightning quick, which made it tricky to putt. The course is in the beautiful setting of the Tweed Valley and the clubhouse is very well equipped as you would expect.Reviewer Rating

Top Challenge - Long Day
Played the course on a very busy Saturday and ended up with a 5.5 hour round due to how busy it was. Just as well the scenery is absolutely stunning and the course was in superb condition to balance out the waiting on every tee box. Keeping up with the game in front wasn't a problem at all yet we still had an example of a player from another party coming back to the tee on a par 3 due to a lost ball when two groups (ours) were waiting to tee off. No wonder the game gets bad press at times with that behaviour and big courses like this cramming in a four ball with questionable handicaps on every available tee time. Despite all of that the course is simply too good so it warrants a return visit.Reviewer Rating

Beautiful sceanary
Lovely course following river. Greens were recovering from winter and snow, so played slow and bumpy. As it was winter, we shared the course with three other groups - felt like it was our own.(Round played: Mar 2018 - Score: 102 Handicap: 19.1)

Nice course, great scenery
Small pro shop with reasonable stock, friendly welcome. Did not play this course at it's best unfortunately. Had frequent snow flurries during the round which made putting sometimes difficult, credit to them allowing us to play though. The course itself is well laid out with some interesting holes and looks in reasonable condition for time of year if a little wet in places. It is fairly flat but a good walk round, some distances from greens to tees. Greens looked in decent nick but I found were fairly flat so not too much to worry about other than pace. Hotel attached is nice enough and would recommend it for a Sunday driver for sure. Will hopefully return some time when weather is better as would like to play it again in more favorable conditions.(Round played: Mar 2018 - Score: 79 Handicap: 6.1)

Arrived to find that the Pro shop is not much more than a small room downstairs out of the way. It gave the impression that the hotel had begrudgingly made room to squeeze it in. That was fortunately the only bad point. The club give out mandatory golf insurance for the day regardless of whether you have your own, a very good idea.
There is a warm up area compromising a 250 yard driving area and a fairly large putting green (although no mini pins just holes)
The course is over 6500 yards to a good pair of socks (perhaps even a spare pair) is needed for the round. The 1st hole is an inviting par 5 and gives the hope of a good start and the 2nd has the potential for an Eagle. For the majority the course is straight and you won't really find yourself getting into much trouble unless you are really wayward. There are a cheeky couple of well placed ponds, streams etc and with the course being so long you really need to avoid them. Hell the shortest hole is 173 yards off the gents tee. The overall condition of the greens were petty good despite there being a considerable aount of unimpaired pitch marks on several of them, although that ays more about the golfers than the greenkeepers.
The scenery is great and the course played at a steady rate but add on at least an extra half hour from normal due to the length (it really plays long).
If your a few shots over your normal handicap then you've had a good round. I play off 11 and went round in 87 + 2 lost balls so i walked away very happy.
Afterwards i nipped into the spike bar only to find that they stop serving food at 1700 but advised that i could go upstairs and get something in the restaurant, which i did. £13.50 for a cheeseburger and hand cut (proper) chips was fairly reasonable considering that the restaurant has 1 rosette.
Would i recommend this course??? YES
Would i go back??? YES
Would i recommend the food??? It was OK.
