What the club says: Innerleithen golf course is a 9 hole golf course located in the Scottish Borders, 32 miles south of Edinburgh and 6 miles from Peebles.

This attractive course set in one of three valleys enjoys magnificent surroundings. The course was opened in 1886 and was designed by 3 times Open champion Willie Park Jnr. The course is set on a river bed and as a result is easily walkable with only three of the tees being elevated (It's well worth the walk to admire the views you are afforded)

Great little hidden gem

Great little course with some really challenging holes. Fairways immaculate. Greens had just been seeded so difficult to judge.

Main Course

Hoebridge is a club designed for all kinds of golfers, with an 18-hole main course, a shorter nine hole course, and an 18 hole par 3 course. I played the main course in February after a week of wet weather, but you would hardly have known it given the wonderful condition of the course.

The course is fairly long with few easy pars, but it's certainly an enjoyable track if you're not too worried about getting beat up on your scorecard occasionally. There are a few elevation changes with a couple of short climbs, but certainly not anything too strenuous. Favourite hole? I never seem to play it well, but the downhill par 3 6th is a pretty hole.

With a covered driving range, a larger than expected golf shop, and a decent clubhouse (which is probably more functional than plush), Hoebridge ticks all of the boxes.

A little gem

We played the course on a spring evening, with sunshine and no wind. The course was presented in good condition, but the greens were a little patchy, dry and bumpy in places.

A Hidden Gem

Was expecting how nice the scenery was how great a condition it was in and how good some of the holes were - the 3rd is as good a par4 as you'll ever play - most enjoyable and well worth a visit

great little gem.

What a gem of a club ,even though it was winter greens that didn't spoil the enjoyment or friendly members of the club. The bar wasn't open when we played but they did have a good coffee machine and a price list for snack and bar food.

Innerleithen is a quirky 9 hole course which has a good variety of holes and is very enjoyable to play. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were as good as you\'ll find on courses at 4 times the price. Well done to the green keepers. \\We arrived an hour prior to our tee time and were looking forward to a bacon buttie. Unfortunately we were disappointed and, despite signs advertising snacks and coffees it appears that they are only served on a Saturday. As we played on a Sunday we were a day late!!\\On arrival we were met by a very helpful committee member who took time to explain the course layout. The only negative downside was that I got a ticking off by a member for playing off the white tees. This is an outdated policy and, if you are a low handicap golfer visiting the course you want to play the course at its full length.

Travelling up to Edinburgh through the borders our group had a couple of hours to kill. As the sticks were in the car we decided on 9 holes. Innerleithen was the next town so we visited this course. We paid the honesty fee and set off. What a great 9 holes. It looked easy and flat but had plenty of bite on this blustery afternoon. The 3 off us are single handicappers and the course tested us. If you get a chance go play this.

Played this on a stunning Sunday morning in July. It was like being in the Rockies! Some excellent driving holes with only one quirky par threes. The opening par three is a testing shot with ditch, road, bridge and river all in play. The par fives require long accurate drives and the greens were in decent condition. Honesty box in operation and chances are the clubhouse may be closed, other than the locker room, but if you're simply looking for a quick round in a beautiful setting then Innerleithen hits the mark.

Despite being only a 9 hole course Innerleithen has some very strong holes which will test all levels of golfer, especially the 3rd hole from the white tee which is set high up in the very corner of the course. The course was in excellent condition when we visited on a Tuesday morning - the only drawback was there were no catering facilities available (other than drinks and confectionery vending machines) meaning we had to drive into town for what turned out to be a very overpriced lunch).
