What the club says: West Linton is a conservation village situated 13-miles and 20-minutes south of Edinburgh on the A702. The Club was formed in 1890 by the local schoolmaster Robert Millar, whose vision and energy created the original nine hole course. In 1926, renowned course architect James Braid provided advice on the improvement of the course and many of his ideas were put into place in succeeding years. However, it was not until 1972, when additional land became available, that the course was extended to 18 holes. It is now recognised as one of the finest courses in the area and is part of the James Braid Golf Trail.

a lovely day out

West Linton Golf Club is well worth a visit. We played 18 holes in early May and given the weather we have had this winter, the greens were in super condition as was the whole of the course. The setting is beautiful with lots of birdsong and outstanding views of the countryside. After the golf, the clubhouse is of the highest order, and the meal we enjoyed was made all the more excellent by the considerate manner with which we were served by the catering team. I would have no hesitation in recommending this club for any size of party or larger outing. - May 7 2018

back after 25 years
great to be back at a course I last played in my early 20's
bone dry and ball running for miles made it particularly tricks but beautiful setting.

What happened?
Not what it used to be, unfortunately. Looks like a council course now. Whoever is in charge needs to take a look at themselves. Shameful...

Perfect Condition Golf Course
8 of us traveled from Powfoot in DUMFRIES & Galloway for the TEXAS scramble comp on Saturday 24th of June with a great format on the par 3s .
After just an hour travel we arrived at what has to be described as a hidden gem very friendly welcome superb food a proper club house very spacious and like new .
The golf course from the practice facilities apart from hitting your own balls on the range area are everything you need putting green and all greens superb and true and quite fast .
All bunkers raked perfectly with fairways mown perfect no divots and semi rough no problems finding your ball .
Course has got to be 9/10 and a superb challenge with some long holes into the wind and great par 3s .
A must stop if you are passing and we will be back to try again
THANKYOU ????????????

very good course, some tricky holes but risk reward, you need to be straight of the tee or you are in trouble

Not an easy course the rough is not forgiving although it was wet so made it tricky if not in the fairway but enjoyed it

Cold morning, winter rules but the course was in great condition. Some greens frosty and treated, but the course overall was really good and enjoyable to play.
Great facilities in and around the club. Worth a visit.

Round played 11th July 15 and the course was immaculate. Well kept fairways and the greens were in fantastic condition and lightning fast. Some long part fours to negotiate and a double part three to finish . The 17th played 191 and the 18th 222 yards so a good Tee shot is a must on both. What looks like a newly built clubhouse was very welcoming and a nice place to have a post match meal or drink. This is a must play course and I will definitely return soon.

A hidden gem near the Borders. Well kept course and good test of golf, relatively flat with good variation of holes and nice greens. Clubhouse friendly and welcoming and the boys recommended the grub. Well worth a visit!

Played early October 2013 - Excellent condition and as it was windy a good test. Greens very good a true roll. Setting good and great scenery. Didn't use the clubhouse but this looks good so no reason to think it would match the rest of the course. A very hard last four holes, two long par 4's and two long par 3's. One I will definitely be back to.

A beautiful course in a lovely setting. Varied holes which are a fair test of all levels of golfer made this a Roxburghe-beater in my books. Definitely one to include on the Freedom of the Fairways rota, although the food in the clubhouse was nothing to write home about.
