Wearside Golf Club

Wearside Golf Club is the North East’s hidden gem. This parkland course is situated on the south bank of the River Wear and is the home of the University of Sunderland’s golf team.

The course is easily accessible with links to the A19 and A1 motorway’s meaning that it is just a short stop off if you are planning on playing somewhere on your travels.

Rudding Park Golf Club

Rudding Park Golf Club

Rudding Park Hotel, Spa & Golf is perfect for those looking for a golfing getaway. There are two courses to choose from at Rudding Park, The Hawtree Course and the Repton Short Course.

The Hawtree course, named after its designer Martin Hawtree, is one of the most picturesque golf courses in the Harrogate area as it runs through acres of 18th Century parkland. The Repton Short Course is just six par 3s, however, they are no normal par 3s. They are replicas of famous par 3s. The signature hole has to be the 5th hole which is an exact copy of the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass.

After a challenging day on either course you can enjoy a relaxing time in the hotel or take advantage of the spa.

Price Guide:

  • Weekday - £25.00 (Hawtree Course)
  • Weekend - £25.00 (Hawtree Course)

Alnmouth Golf Club

Alnmouth Golf Club regards itself as “the jewel in Northumberland’s golfing crown” and rightly so. The course is located at Alnmouth Bay on the Northumberland coastline and offers views across Foxton and the coast.

Despite being a links course, Alnmouth Bay has parkland turf which offers a truly unique links experience.  The course is well known for having a great playing surface all year round.

The clubhouse, known as Foxton Hall, is also a hotel and has 26 en-suite rooms to offer. So if you’re looking to stay and play then Alnmouth Bay Golf Club is the perfect choice.

Price Guide:

  • Weekday - £39.00
  • Weekend - £39.00 (Sunday Only)

Longhirst Hall Golf Club

Longhirst Hall

Longhirst Hall is a golfing haven in the North East of England. Located near Morpeth, there are three different courses to choose from. The Dawson Course, the Lakeland Course and The Old Course.

The Lakeland Course is the one that catches the eye the most. As it suggests in the name, there are a lot of water hazards on this course, which give it an American feel. We suggest stocking up on golf balls if you’re going to play risky and tackle the water features.

Price Guide:

  • Before 9am  -  £38 (All Courses)
  • 9am – Noon -  £25 (Lakeland & Dawson Courses)
  • After 12 Noon - £15 (Lakeland & Dawson Courses)

Brancepeth Castle Golf Club

This course was designed by the famous golf course architect Harry Colt in 1924 and offers a fine test of golf to all standards of golfer. The course is laid out on what was Brancepeth Castle Deer Park and the clubhouse is a conversion of the stables and coach house.

The signature hole is the 9th hole at Brancepeth Castle. It is a downhill par 3 that plays towards Brancepth Castle itself. In fact, the green is situated in the old gardens of the castle. Peter Allis once said if he had to make 18 holes by picking holes from various golf clubs, the 9th at Brancepeth Castle would be in there.

Price Guide:

  • Weekdays £40.00
  • Weekends - £48.00

Horsforth Golf Club

Horsforth Golf Club is a testing 18-hole mixture of both parkland and moorland. The course offers some devilishly short holes mixed with some tougher longer holes including two par 5s over 500 yards.

  • Weekday - £30.00

Hull Golf Club

Located in North Humberside, Hull Golf Club is one of the finest parkland courses in the area. The opening four holes set the tone at Hull Golf Club as they show off the huge variety that the course has to offer. It has short holes, long holes and undulating holes.

The course has previously been used for various County events by the Yorkshire team which backs up its standing as one of the best parkland courses in Yorkshire. The course was the first in the Hull area and the layout has hardly been changed from James Braid’s original design.

Situated just a few miles from the Humber Bridge, Hull Golf Club has great accessibility. The KC Stadium is also in close proximity meaning you can go and watch a game of football or rugby after your round.

The course is just 10 miles northeast of Leeds and 11 miles southwest of York so if you’re looking to make a weekend off it then you have two perfect places to search for accommodation. Both offer a unique and enjoyable night out.

Gosforth Golf Club
