What the club says: Gosforth Golf Club is a course of immense character. One of the major features of the course providing a test on many of the holes, is the Ouse Burn, which winds its way down the 18th and through the 4th on its way to the Tyne.
A steady mix of tough par 4s, testing par 5s and gentle par 3s ensure the course is an enjoyable test for golfers of all abilities.
At 432 yards from the medal tee, the 18th hole (pictured left) is undoubtedly the clubs signature hole and has often been referred to as the toughest finishing hole in Northumberland. The line of trees down the left and the infamous Ouse Burn on the right guarantee a challenging finishing hole which has put paid to many a good score in the past. However, after successfully negotiating the tee shot, the golfer is faced with a long, tough approach to a rolling green that appears to be far smaller than it actually is. Par is a good score!

Lovely open course
The course presents enough challenge but offers room for those with maybe not the straightest drives. A flowing section of par 4?s and 5?s in the back 9. A selection of par 3?s to test. Not a lot of bunkers just enough to tempt you here and there. Pace of play is fair and other than the comp days I have always got a tee time. Worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

One of the best courses in the NE - an absolute gem
Tucked away and never played the course before (have walked along the bridle path etc). The front nine is tight and challenging but short enough to help you out. The back nine is a huge challenge - tight, picturesque fairways in super condition. The 15th is an absolute peach of a hole. My only criticism was that the 2nd has a temporary green. The pro shop was closed so we didn't know and I over-clubbed by two clubs as used the watch for distance.Reviewer Rating

Decent course, slightly overpriced.
Played here in decent weather yesterday, the course plays either side of the bridle path, the holes on the club house are picturesque with water hazards, trees and dog legs to make them really interesting; the other nine holes are very up and down with well placed bunkers to keep interest but lacking look and feel of the other holes.Green condition was poor in several holes, partially due to the bad weather we've seen at the start of the year but noticeably worse that other courses played in recent weeks.
