What the club says: Brancepeth Castle Golf Club was designed by the world famous architect Harry Colt in 1924 and laid out on what was Brancepeth Castle Deer Park, the stables and coach house being converted into the clubhouse. Brancepeth is a beautiful parkland course of 6400 yards SSS 70 offering a great variation of holes. The deep ravine cutting through the course, provides some challenging tee shots.

Lovely layout, good bar, nice pro shop
First time for me on this course, on a damp September afternoon. The fairways were lush, greens nicely kept but having been hallotined and add the dew, they were running particularly slow, which is a pity. Still managed a 77 which is good round for me. The course is really interesting and has three bridges across ravines which always makes for an interesting journey. Some hard holes but quite a lot of reachable holes, even the par fives. I really enjoyed the whole experience. The pro shop guys were really chatty and knocked a bit off for the greens maintenance and looked after us for clothing and drinks. We eat in the clubhouse and enjoyed the food there. I would definitely come back in better weather as I imagine in summer this is a belter and you would get much more run out on the fairways which would change scores a lot and greens would be harder to stay on i imagine.Reviewer Rating

Tough
I'm quite a fit 72 year old but some of the climbing on this course very tough also paths going down hill once your trolly gets going very dangerous, the course apart from the walking very good condition and pleasing to the eye ,one downer could not get a sandwich until after 10am ,would not rush back ,nicer courses and more pleasant walking near by .Reviewer Rating

Best course in the north of England
I come back to play this fantastic course every year. The layout is excellent with 8 ravines to drive over. The short par four 14th is s great risk reward hole. Greens are pure.Reviewer Rating

Tough Par 3s
Pleasant members club with an interesting layout and some seriously challenging par 3s. Along with most courses just now the fairways were parched dry and very firm. Greens however were very well watered, soft and true. Overall a well maintained course.A well established parkland layout with most fairways being based on old fashioned fields. This means they are broad and ‘wave’ up and down, leading to some interesting bounces and stances. You can even end up feeling a bit sea-sick! There’s a decent variety in length and shape which keeps thing interesting. It’s the par 3s that are the really challenging part though. They’re all tough with very little margin for error.. the 10th in particular is a beast, much harder than the 9th (hardest 9th in world golf).
All in a pleasant, well maintained and interesting course.

The most miserable club I've ever visited
We played here in the Mixed Open. There was no information for visitors and the pro could hardly be bothered to look up to check us in. In the morgue of a clubhouse we had to search for staff to get cups so we could get coffee and then there was no starter on the course to give us any information like local rules, yardages etc. We were made to feel like a nuisance which they only wanted for the money we had paid. The course was not in good condition either with huge divots all over the place and the grass scalped in places. Would not visit again even if it was free!Reviewer Rating
