Shinkwin holds firm to claim the TP Tour shootout

By: Golf Shake | Fri 12 Jun 2015

Rob Harrhy from Frilford Heath, gained his first professional win at West Herts Golf Club on the TP Tour on June 1st. Harrhy scored a round of 67 matching the score of Raymond Russell, former European Tour winner. In the sudden death play off, Harrhy made a birdie putt of some 12 feet on the first hole.

Thanks to all at West Herts a superb layout, with many notable holes - a great test of golf for the TP Tour players.

Alun Lynch from Clyne Golf Club near Swansea got his first win as a Pro at Sonning Golf Club on May 29th. A play off with Ben Nash from Cooden Beach  resulted in Lynch winning on the par three second hole, after striking his tee shot six feet away from the cup.

Sonning, an original Harry Colt design, was in first class condition for the TP Tour event - heavy rain on the day did nothing to disrupt the tournament, a testament to the course quality.

Callum Shinkwin clinched the Farmfoods TP Tour Shootout title at Robin Hood Golf Club, West Midlands
The biggest one day tournament - with a £5,000 first prize, sponsored by Farmfoods took place at Robin Hood Golf Club, Solihull on May 21st.

Callum Shinkwin was joined in the 4 man shootout by three regular TP Tour players - Lloyd Kennedy, from Chelmsford, Toby Tree from Goodwood, and Francis McGuirk from Princes Golf Club, Sandwich.
McGuirk shot a best of the day round of 69 which included 6 birdies. Francis holds the record for wins on the TP Tour with 5 victories.

Shinkwin, former England Amateur Champion from Moor Park Golf Club, scored a round of 70 as did Kennedy and Tree to get into the shootout – and then played the three shootout holes in level par before securing victory, with an 18 foot birdie putt on the par 3 16th.

A field of 75 players competed in the event.
