Family Get Into Golf Sessions in Nottinghamshire

By: Golf Shake | Wed 08 Oct 2014

There has never been a better time for families to get involved in golf in Nottinghamshire, with the county’s award-winning clubs and PGA professionals supporting a major drive to encourage would-be players.

A new initiative is making it easier than ever for families to give golf a go and enjoy a sport that brings many health and social benefits.   The ‘Get into golf’ Family Offer is an inexpensive way for individuals, couples, families or groups to get into the game and try golf in a relaxed and familiy-friendly group ran by PGA professional golf coaches which is aimed at beginners or those returning to the game.

Ruddington Grange and Leen Valley are the first 2 clubs to provide the family offer organised under the umbrella of the Nottinghamshire County Golf Partnership.

Richard Brown, England Golf Regional Development Officer, urged people to make the most of the benefits playing golf can bring.

He says: “Nottinghamshire has a great golfing tradition and can boast some of the most pro-active and family-friendly golf clubs in the region, where you will be made to feel welcome and can learn the game with like-minded people. The health and social benefits associated with golf are hard to beat.”

Sarah Williams, a Get into golf participant, said: “I took up the coaching offer with my family at my local club and we were made to feel very welcome. All the equipment was provided free of charge and sessions were fun and relaxed. We have made some great new friends and all of us are now playing golf on regular basis.”
