RBC Canadian OpenWe are this week assessing the golf betting opportunities in the field for the RBC Canadian Open, taking place at Glen Abbey GC, Oakville – Ontario.

Glenn Abbey is a 7,253 yard par 72 and is the most commonly used course for this event - most recently in 2000 (Woods), 2004 (Singh), 2008 (Reavie) and 2009 (Green). The course benefits players with power and control. You can see the value of power by the fact that 8 out of the top 10 in the driving distance rankings are teeing it up here this week, and straight after a major for some of them. However, the last 2 winners here (Reavie/Green) aren’t big hitters so control, particularly par breaking, can be important. We wouldn’t expect the winner here to record more than 4 bogeys all week.

Players to watch...

Brandt Snedeker (14/1) may lack in power, but he more than makes up for that in control and birdie making – 4th par breakers and 3rd birdie average.

Ryan Palmer (66/1) appears to have the perfect game to go well here – 9th driving distance, 6th par breakers and 4th birdie average.

Chris Kirk (55/1) might be a bit average off the tee but he ranks 8th for par breakers and 10th for birdie averages so worth an each-way chance.

Dustin Johnson (25/1) has the power but has been lacking a bit of the control this year. However, he ranks 4th for driving distance and 15th for birdie average.

Robert Garrigus (90/1) has not played well this year but based on the 2012 rankings we know that he has huge potential to go well this week – 3rd driving distance, 3rd par breakers and 4th birdie average.
