The Augusta Municipal Golf Course is incredible value for money to play
The city of Augusta, Georgia, is synonymous with both the game of golf and the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, who considered it to be his hometown.
As someone who loves both the Masters Tournament and the music of the funk legend, that makes this one intriguing sort of town.
But it's also now home to what is sure to become one of the most impressive public courses in the United States.
We all know about the intensely private and exclusive Augusta National Golf Club, which annually stages the iconic first major of the year, and you may also be aware of the nearby Augusta Country Club that sits on the other side of those tall pines behind Amen Corner.
In fact, the modern, extended tee of the famous 13th hole at the National was previously land occupied by the lesser-known club.
However, just a few miles down the road, you will also find the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, which has undergone quite the makeover in recent times.
What is The Augusta Municipal Golf Course?

Long known as "The Patch" by local golfers, Augusta National, partnering with Augusta Technical College and The First Tee of Augusta, and deploying its vast resources in an effort to provide tangible support to the community, has overseen a dramatic reimagining of the public layout under the watchful eyes of renowned designers Beau Welling and Tom Fazio.
The great Tiger Woods, five times a Masters champion, masterminded the creation of an accompanying short course that will be known as "The Loop".
Additionally, there will be a 12-hole putting course introduced, while the driving range has been upgraded to feature Trackman Range technology.
Why is all of this relevant, you ask, as we look forward to the joy of springtime and the captivating drama that the Masters frequently delivers?
After 16 months of significant work that has radically transformed the course, the revamped Augusta Municipal, The Patch, shall open its doors in the aftermath of the tournament.
What Does it Cost to Play The Augusta Municipal Golf Course?

On the Wednesday after the Green Jacket has been placed on the champion, The Patch will officially reopen to the public in Augusta, with incredible value for money green fees.
Local residents can play an 18-hole round here for $25, with seniors benefitting from a rate of just $20.
Those visiting from outside the eligible counties, perhaps even those golfers in the area for the Masters in this and in future years, can book a tee time for the highly competitive price of $85.
And when you see the newly released images of the course - which you can consume in full here - that could well be considered a mighty bargain.

It's most unlikely - we're afraid to say - that you will have the opportunity to play Augusta National itself one day, but what's being offered at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course may well be the next best thing.
