Why Golf Clubs Should Encourage Visitors to Review Their Course
Whether you're searching for a potential holiday destination, looking for something to watch on TV, or hoping to uncover that ideal piece of furniture for your living room, online reviews have become an essential resource in this digital age.
The same can be said for golf courses as an increasing number of possible visitors now carefully study ratings posted on the internet before making the decision to book a tee time.
You'll see reviews and rankings for venues across numerous other golf publications, but the difference on Golfshake is that our ratings are solely placed in the hands of consumers, the regular, independent golfers who visit courses across the country and beyond.

Little Hay Golf Complex in Hemel Hempstead was just one of many places that received our coveted Highly Recommended status for 2025 - which was determined by 90% of reviewing golfers (from a minimum of seven unique reviews last year) declaring that they would either play the course again or recommend the experience to another golfer.
Matt Schofield, from Little Hay Golf Complex, recently commented: "We’re incredibly proud to receive the ‘Highly Recommended’ status from Golfshake. This recognition is particularly meaningful as it’s based directly on the feedback from customers.
"We’re committed to providing an enjoyable, welcoming and high-quality experience for all golfers, and this is real encouragement to keep building on that. To be recognised alongside some of the most prestigious courses in the UK reinforces the value our local course offers to the wider golfing community."
The course rankings and ratings on Golfshake are produced by golfers for golfers and it would be beneficial if more clubs encouraged their members and visitors to participate in that process and judge the experience offered by a venue, with the ratings being a reflection of how their expectations were met or surpassed.

There is no greater piece of publicity and the more positive reviews that are submitted, the higher courses will sit in the rankings, increasing their visibility to potential visitors - and there are many of them out there.
We asked thousands of golfers in a recent survey - "how many different golf courses do you usually play each year?" - and just 2% stated that they solely played at their home club. 52% of golfers play between two and eight different courses a season, while a whopping 46% play more than eight courses during a calendar year, meaning that the customer base for all venues is a large one.
Little Hay is just one example of the pride that such Highly Recommended status can offer - seeing a venue resting alongside and enjoying the same, well-earned reputation shared by the most prominent locations in the country.
You can visit the Golfshake Course Section today and submit a review for the golf course nearest to your heart in the knowledge that what you post will prove to be an invaluable tool for other golfers.
