Under Armour Launches New UA HOVR Drive 2

Under Armour has launched its all new UA HOVR Drive 2 for the 2022 golf season, which is reputedly the best performing spiked shoe that the brand has released to date, with every element being meticulously built around Under Armour’s 4 Dimensions of Traction.

Since launching its first golf footwear products in 2016, Under Armour has worked in close collaboration with world leading expert in the biomechanics of the golf swing, Jean-Jacques Rivet, to continuously bring new innovations to golf footwear.

When looking at traction, Under Armour has addressed the specific needs of golfers to enhance performance in golf footwear across what it calls the 4 Dimensions of Traction and applied the science of biomechanics to develop Rotational, Horizontal, Vertical and Internal traction.

More dynamic, faster, and sleeker than previous models, the new upper design on the UA HOVR Drive 2 is based on much more than just an aesthetic. The next evolution in eliminating gapping between foot and shoe, the entire upper has been brought closer to the foot than in the original UA HOVR Drive, resulting in the ultimate locked-in fit and comfort taking the performance of UA’s 4 Dimensions of Traction to new heights.

As well as the new upper design, UA set about engineering a new 3D molded heel cup construction for the UA HOVR Drive 2. Anatomically designed to lock in the heel and improve support, fit, and articulation, the 3D molded heel cup feels like it forms a vacuum around your heel when you slip the UA HOVR Drive 2 on foot. Where previous models have used external heel counters, by locking the heel in place from within the shoe, UA is able to not only lock you in for incredible levels of stability, but also remove a substantial amount of weight from the product to make it super lightweight.

When it comes to energy return and comfort, the UA HOVR Drive 2 delivers this in abundance through UA’s proprietary HOVR cushioning foam. Strategically placed within the midsole to support the biomechanics of the golf swing, the UA HOVR Drive 2 uses a combination of softer energy-returning UA HOVR cushioning in heel & medial (inside) forefoot, with firmer EVA along lateral (outside) wall, building up each of horizontal, rotational and vertical traction performance. This biomechanically correct build supports the natural motion of the foot during the swing by allowing you to sink into a rebounding platform in the heel and medial forefoot, while being stabilised by a firmer lateral wall. Testing has proved this harnesses more torque and downward force into the swing.

The UA HOVR Drive 2 also combines UA Storm waterproofing and Never-Wet, making the shoe fully waterproof with a 1 year waterproof guarantee.
