Alfie Plant Secures Maiden Professional Victory on TP Tour

Alfie Plant gained a legion of fans when he secured the Silver Medal at Royal Birkdale during the 2017 Open Championship. Now a professional making his way in the game, the 26-year-old has won his first title in the paid ranks at the TP Tour's 2018 Tour Championship at Prince's Golf Club.

52 professionals were in the field, several European Tour and Challenge Tour winners among them, competing in perfect, calm conditions on a bright sunny day.

It was a very welcome victory for Alfie, with his father Darren on the bag, shooting a bogey-free 65 to win.. He's played in eight events this year on the Challenge Tour and recently qualified through Stage 1 of the European Q School.

The former European Amateur champion and Walker Cup player took control of the tournament at Prince’s with a superb opening nine of 32 on the tough Himalayas nine. Three more birdies followed on the Shore nine and so the victory, the Trophy and the £1500 first prize was his.

Runners up with 67s were Prince’s pro Jordan Loft and Challenge Tour player from Surrey Gary King.

The next TP Tour event is in association with St Kitts Tourism and takes place at Castle Royle, Berkshire on Monday 22 October.
