What the club says: The course explores existing pine woodland on holes 1 to 5, giving the course a distinctly mature and natural feel at the start of the round, then moving into areas which have been carefully and dramatically shaped before returning to the woodland again on 14. Each hole is unique and at 7,200 yards from the back tees it will challenge the very best golfers both in terms of their playing ability as well as their strategic approach to the game, whilst the five teeing grounds of varying length will allow all golfing abilities to enjoy their round. Many of the carries and rough areas have been sown using indigenous fescue grasses and occasionally these features have been added across the approaches to greens or across fairways giving the site a distinctly links feel.

Always a pleasure!

It's always a pleasure to play Centurion! It's amazing how mature the course is given how young it is, but the condition this time of year is always great. True greens that roll beautifully and that hold when you hit them! The rough is thick and penal, as you would expect, but the fairways are short and lush.. It's a shame they charge what the do for it, as I don't think it warrants it, but never the less people pay it..

Worth a visit

I've played Centurion Club a few times. It wasn't in its best condition following lots of rain. My guests enjoyed the course but felt it lacked any ?beautiful? holes.

Society day - excellent

Played on a society day - great organisation and facilities. Scoring was automatically uploaded via an app so the whole leaderboard could be viewed.. course was in great condition and the 'beat the pro' feature on the 5th was a great challenge (well done to the fantastic Sophie Stone!). Looking forward to getting back there.

Truly Memorable for all the right reasons!

What do you say about this course.. Pristine fairways and greens, with some tight tree-lined holes that really test your game.. but honestly, it'a all about the par3, 8th and drivable par4 9th.. All I will say is, "are you going for the green?"

Enjoy!

Beautiful course, dodgy bunkers

A fantastic course - beautiful, challenging, rewarding, and a lovely atmosphere. But what is going on with the bunkers? Far from good enough for a course of this quality. As if someone stole the sand. Needs urgent fixing!

Centurion - great course, shame about the bunkers

Played as a guest last week. I really liked the course. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great condition, but the bunkers really let the course down. Such a shame.

Fantastic condition, shame about the cost

Firstly, the course was in phenomenal condition given the recent weather, the greens were immaculate and the fairways also excellent. The design of the course is also very good, challenging with some interesting holes and certainly given the wind I played in, very difficult.

The issue I have with the club lies in the fee as a members guest - £138. It feels very toppy compared to courses of equal quality. For example it is double that of the London Club that has also hosted European Tour events.

Equally, the course is right next to the M1 so you play with a constant hum of that road, and the trees that are patently in need of growing to cut that noise out or make the feel of a more exclusive venue are still in their early stages.

Overall if you get a chance to play, the course is well worth playing - however the fee puts me off playing it again and at that price I would rather play some of the more established courses that have already grown into their own character.

Top notch set up. Range and warm up next to the first. Interesting set up with six holes each of 3's, 4's and 5's. Some very nice holes through the trees especially. As a design the whole course is well above averagely memorable. Greens sensibly sloped, very receptive and decently quick 9'3 on my stimp. Tee boxes very tidy, fairways lush and divot free. The rough is kept very sensible, hard to lose a ball.
A few niggles. A green keeper was oblivious to us trying to putt out 20 yards away. Turn. The. Engine. Off. The paths are extremely rough for trollies it's really a buggy set up which is a shame. Not a single par four or five which asks you a question off the tee, every hole is a driver. Bunkers have a lot of stones and variable depth of sand. Very noisy coffee machine in upstairs bar.
Overall I'm not a great fan of courses with this level of exclusivity and I'd prefer a more old fashioned design. Don't think they have any plans to take green fees, but I understand they have been generous to local clubs in giving vouchers for charities, which is commendable. Comfortably a better design than the grove, certainly top 5 in Hertfordshire
