A fantastic course in excellent condition, playing here on the Bunkered voucher makes a worthwhile trip down to this wonderful part of Scotland. The scenery is stunning, the welcome in the clubhouse warm and friendly and for us to round of a two days of golf was the perfect way. Well worth a visit down there.

The weather was looking pretty poor with heavy rain and string winds, but undeterred we set off from Arran and made the drive down. A on arrival we were warmly greeted and told we could tee off early if we like, a quick putt later and we were on the 10th tee ready to begin in a howling North Easterly wind.
Right from the off I was in love with the course, each hole was consistently great, with some massive contours on fairways and greens only adding to the occasion.
I really enjoyed all the par threes, especially the 14th and 15th, of the longer holes I thought the 17th, 1st and 8th stood out but the rest were of a very high standard.
It probably clouds my judgement that my scratch score was only 5 but I think I might actually prefer the dunes to the old course, but to be sure I'll just need to play them both a few more times to be sure!

It appears that 18 tees and greens have been cut from virgin land right on the seashore, with a few bits of fairway mown in-between the dunes ... and that's it. There are lots of blind shots, wild bounces off the fairways and huge sloping greens - this is extreme golf. If you believe that the sport is a test of you against the course and that it isnt meant to be fair, this is the course for you.
Stunning, and in great condition, but fiendishly difficult. Loved it!
Note that you don't need a caddy or guide any more (although I'd definitely take a stroke saver), and we went round in 3 hours in pretty appalling weather conditions with hardly anyone else on the course.
