Myself and three friends took advantage of an amazing offer on the website where we had two nights accommodation in a luxury cottage and unlimited golf for £79 per person.
The cottages were amazing and we were taken to the golf course and returned by mini bus whenever we wanted.
We played off the whites on day one (pretty windy) and were totally destroyed by the course. On your first round they send you round with a complimentary guide to give you a clue where to aim as there are quite a few blind shots.
On day two we played the blues (crazy tough) and went back to the whites on day 3.
We had a look at the black tees and thought they would totally destroy us so showed a bit of sense.
The fairways are old style links with hills and bumps everywhere.
However it was the greens that gave us the most fun.
There are so many slopes on each green that you had to have a really good look for your putting line. On one hole, one of my friends lay down on the green in a hollow (around four feet deep) and we could not see him from the other end.
The 8th hole is rightly scored as the toughest on the course.
A long drive is required followed by a shot of around 200 yards to the green played over a hollow (balls in this are usually lost).
The clubhouse is fairly small but does excellent food and the staff are without a doubt the friendliest I have ever encountered on a golf course.
There are huge developments planned over the next few years including a huge clubhouse.
I would definitely advise anybody who can to go and play this wonderful course.
Kintyre Coast GemMacrahanish is full of history and romance, after all it was designed by Old Tom Morris himself! My partner and I teed off on a blustery winters morning. The 1st tee shot across the bay is certainly intimidating, but I managed to send the ball on to the green halcyon turf of the fairway beyond, and after a long iron into the waiting green, walked off with a par 4 start. The second is a 5 wood lay up to the river, and then a blind shot up over the ridge to the higher elevation where I found the bowl shaped green. The third really starts to get interesting, as we turn towards the Atlantic surf, and dog-leg fairways that undulate quite dramatically. The quality of the turf is superb, and the course drains well, even after heavy downpours. I found the Greenside bunker here, and bogeyed. The 4th is an enticing par 3, but you can't be short or long as you will find deep swales to chip from. I placed a wedge tee shot to within 12 feet of the hole and rolled it in for a birdie 2. I was back on track! The 5th to 9th were quite sheltered by the high dunes, and you really have to find the fairways with your tee shot, as the marram grass rough can be punishing. I reached the turn in 46, and so began the turn back into the sleety wind. There is a long par 5 at the 12th, with a narrow fairway neck. I was happy to walk off with a 6 as the ball was not travelling as far now. The closing holes bring you back to the flatter ground that stretches towards the hotel, and I came home safely with two 5's for a total of 90 (minus 14) to give me a 76 in brutal homeward conditions. I was soaked, but happy with my experience of this magical links course. I will definitely return when it is warmer and calmer.

Golf in the raw at its bestMach Dunes shows what a genius David McLay Kidd is. Built on a Site of Special Scientific Interest. No fertiliser, only sheep and laid out with the minimum of alteration to the original dunes, only the tees were levelled out.
Pure Links golfA fantastic natural links golf course. Well worth the pilgrimage to Cambeltown. Great layout with tricky greens.

UNREAL!!!!One of the best courses I've ever played. It is the proper links gold experience. The course is majestic. Superb layout. Very challenging but very enjoyable to play.
But beware the back nine, tad more windy

A fantastic course in excellent condition, playing here on the Bunkered voucher makes a worthwhile trip down to this wonderful part of Scotland. The scenery is stunning, the welcome in the clubhouse warm and friendly and for us to round of a two days of golf was the perfect way. Well worth a visit down there.
