open friendly course need food.
We were met by extremely friendly staff in pro shop, offered coffee etc and advice about the course; greens were patchy in places but smooth overall.fairways were well groomed and the course presented a challenge for both of us.Reviewer Rating

Course and facilities have really improved since I played last year. It is still very relaxed and staff are friendly and welcoming.

My first time on any golf course but I was impressed with the wide fairways giving a novice golfer like myself a chance to catch the golf bug and I have. Thanks to all the green and fairways staff for making it a enjoyable day

Agree that it's good for practice. Very quiet, got round it in about 2 hours 10 minutes. Some good holes and practically every green is guarded by a ditch. Even though there are 8 par 3's, plenty of these are quite long, and the greens on most holes are really small - so it isn't easy at all. Just treat it as fun for practicing.

An excellent course for practising. It is always quiet and excellent value for money. Some of the greens need improving and the holes don't offer massive variety, but it's still an interesting course and a bit of a hidden gem.

Very good facility, the 9 hole is ideal for beginners or for a quick practice round, the 18 hole is a good challenge and has some interesting holes. Lessons at the academy are very useful and very reasonably priced when you book a block of 6. Overall very good value for money.

Lovely little course, fairways beautiful. Greens could do with a little bit of work and watering as they were extremely hard. The rough doesn't look much but is very tough to play out of! Overall a really nice, reasonably priced course. Recommended.

the 9 hole course is absoloutely ideal for beginners
The course doesnt have bunkers and is all par 3"s but it is also a test for handicap golfers as you have to be very accurate and have a very good short game

Greens in poor condition
It's a shame that the condition of the greens on the Anchor course let this golf course down.I know we have had the COVID19 issue but I would have thought this would have been the ideal time to at least do some work on the greens themselves even with limited staff so they were ready when the go ahead was given to being able to play again. The rest of the course is ok but with poor greens then the use of the course is really just to get out and practice your long, mid and short shots along with chipping but if you want to practice your putting on nicely conditioned greens then forget it. I will play it again but it will be purely for practicing my off green shots rather than a good overall game of golf.

A really friendly welcome and a quick run through of what to expect and how to play the 5th. Club house is a wood cabin but pleasant, the course is basic with little or no rough and a few trees. Not many holes will test the decent golfer although a couple are tricky. The greens did not impress us as there was quite a lot of moss and cracks. We enjoyed the experience though.

I only played the 9 hole Par 3 course, mainly due to the freezing weather.
the course is no more than a pitch and putt, with no hazards, the reason for the lack of hazard I believe is due to the local authority and planning permissions.
If you need somewhere to practice your short game, other than your local park, I can recommend this.
Fee's are appropriate for the course and facilities, the "Pro Shop" is a small cabin, it must however be said, Nigel the pro, is a fantastic guy, engaging and very helpful, very reasonable lesson prices as well.
