What the club says: The golf course opened in 1990, followed by the club house in March 1991. The facilities include an 18 hole, well drained, gently undulating, parkland golf course, with a mix of evergreen and deciduous trees and several small streams and ditches. The course is 6949 yards from the white tees with a par of 73. The course from the yellow tees is 6250 yards with a par of 72 and a scratch score of 70. There is a 20-acre practice area.

I have played many times over the years. The condition of the course continues to improve each year. There have been a number of changes to the course lay out. Greens were very good.

Wonderful WGC venue. Unbelievable value. Fast true greens and a very pretty walk. Lots of variety.careful as you go and you may capture a score but simple holes can turn birdie anticipation into double bogey very easily. Helpful, friendly staff and good practice facilities. This is a must play that I had never heard of. I travelled from Sheffield to play here and would do so again like a shot

Excellent
What a wonderful afternoon at Wergs. Considering the very dry weather, the course was in excellent condition. Varied holes, each presenting its own interesting challenge. Beautifully presented course and excellent value for money. Bunkers were well kept but I wish I could have kept out of them. No problems regarding the oace of play. Friendly staff and members made it a memorable day. Good choice of refreshments in the bar. I can't wait to go back.Reviewer Rating

Worth The visit
Played on a sunny day, course was in good condition, fairways had a nice run on them, rough was tough but not too tough. It was setup for a low score if you were playing well. Greens were a bit too fast for my tastes however they were all consistent so cant complain at that.I would visit again

Good course, tough but no mud!
Played this course a number of times and it's quite tough unless you are a big hitter. Relatively flat, with a few minor hills and quite a few water features, so interesting. Really amazed at the lack of mud this time of year compared to most locally. Not played for a bit so could to re-aquaint. Friendly staff, good clubhouse. PS They've just re-arranged a few of the back 9 holes, still remains as challenging though.Reviewer Rating

I have played The Wergs many times over the years and can only compliment the condition this year. Over the years there has been a number or changes, improvements and these will continue. It can play long in the winter but when I played the conditions were excellent. There are a number of water hazardous which make you think about your tee shots and 2nd shots.

Challenging course that is maturing nicely
Very nice course tree lined to make it more visually intimidating keeping you honest off the tee. Played it in driving rain where parts of the course were very wet but all the greens held up amazingly well, ran true and quicker than expected. Real gem of a find 20 mins away from me that I will visit a lot more. Visit in the club shop was very welcoming and all the members around were very nice and made you feel welcome. Would highly recommend and this is now firmly being added to my rotationReviewer Rating

Great golf course, a well kept tree lined course it is fairly new just over 30 year's so it is fairly forgiving, well stocked shop, good value game.

Great Course

Challenging for all golfers
A really enjoyable days golf at a nice courseVery well set up with lots of hazards including water around the greens and plenty of bunkers and lots of woodland

Long Parkland
Nice course the only little downside was the green speeds. Some greens were rock hard and rapid and some were very very soft and slow as hell. That being, its a very well looked after piece of land.Reviewer Rating

Have not played this course in 10 years its matured with some lovely conifer trees, the greens was very good and it was a pressure to play it. staff and the pro was excellent very friendly and helpful, we will be going back again later with our golf society many thanks Clive.

Challenging in places
A nice course and great value for money. Some challenging holes and is a course to make you think rather than pull driver on every par 4 and 5. Greens were in great condition, played true and at a good speed. Hospitality before and after the round fantastic as well with fairly priced food and drink.
