This is one of my favourite courses, which I play at least twice a year. They are doing MAJOR work at the moment (as at October 2017), which includes moving bunkers, and altering green surrounds etc. I understand they are spending millions, and have apparently appointed course architects to design the new layouts, which I think will look fantastic when finished. Unfortunately, it meant that their Autumn Senior Open was none-qualifying, as there were 4 temporary greens and 3 temporary tees, making it poor value for the price we paid. I am looking forward to visiting in March, when the work will be finished, and hopefully all in play - at the moment, there are huge swathes of land marked GUR, where they have laid new turf to cover the areas already renovated and areas still being worked on. The only reason for the 'poor' score on course conditions is because of the work interfering with the usual very high standard of course at Wellingborough.

Played in a seniors competition, my first visit to Wellingborough. I found the course an interesting and fair test, quite open on most holes but difficult to score if off line.I would recommend the course to other golfers

One of my favourite courses and always well kept. There is ongoing work around the course (tidying up the ponds at 3 and 4 for example), but the greenkeepers always seem to keep disturbance to a minimum. Greens were a little slower than usual, but consistent, although I three putted at least 6 times! The bunkers I visited were well kept and stocked with sand. Tees and fairways in good condition. Players were moving around the course without any delays which is always helpful. It was a little disappointing that the kitchen/bar doesn't open until 11.00 as we were hoping to have a bite to eat before going out, but I have seen this at lot of clubs lately. I can only suggest that visitors check with ALL clubs as to the time they serve food from, rather than expect food service to be available. Whenever I have been able to eat at Wellingborough, it has always been good, and the surroundings do make this course special!

One of my favourite courses. Didn't do it justice, although it is never easy to play this long a course a week after it was closed due to heavy rains. No run on the ball. The course has recovered well, and this was their Senior Open, so it was very well prepared for us. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens in very good order, the greens were a little on the slow side compared to normal for Wellingborough, but running quite true if you had the pace right. Already booked for their Autumn Senior Open event, and can't wait to come back.

One of my favourite courses (it has a grade 1 listed Clubhouse, and the putting green is part of a very formal garden with statues). I try to play it a couple of times each year, and it never disappoints. Great layout with quite a few memorable holes. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens all in first class order. Played in the Autumn Senior Open (they also have one in March), at a cost of £30 including bacon roll before, choice of 3 meals afterwards and (at least 9) prizes. I believe the standard price is £40.

One of my favourite courses. March is not usually the best time to assess any course, but the weather over the Winter has been kinder in 2014/15. Grade listed Clubhouse with 'formal' gardens (which include the putting green) behind the 1st tee and 18th green. The course is s good challenge with some long par 4's and tricky greens. Bunkers and fairways well maintained. Quite large greens, so you need to be able to judge the pace as well as the turn. Already booked to play in the Autumn Senior Open in October.
