What the club says: Each hole is very individual offering challenges to golfers of all abilities.
Whilst many fairways are tree lined you are unlikely to lose your ball if you stray into them as the grass is kept short. Greens have true putting surfaces playable all year round.
The two loops of nine holes each start and return to the clubhouse and numerous points on the course allow you views over Wakefield and the surrounding countryside.

Nice course worth playing
First time playing Wakefield GC. Friendly welcome in clubhouse and pro shop. Nice breakfast. Chipping and putting green outside clubhouse. Course a little bit worn and bare in areas due to recent hot spells, green were mint, rolled really well. Course layout very good, a few blind tee shots and quite treelined. Fairly flat walking. Couple of nice looking par 3s and great par 4 to finish towards the clubhouse. Nice terrace to have a well earned pint. Certainly will be returning sometime.Reviewer Rating

First time I have played this course and won't be the last l hope.
Coffee and bacon sandwich on arrival was very nice.
The green staff have the course in great condition with nice undulating greens making it a great test of golf.
If you have not played here before l would thoroughly recommend you try it.

Great conditions for the seniors open. The course was well presented and offered a fair mix of challenging holes and some not-so. The bunkers were in very good order and fair to play from and all the greens had a consistent true roll and feel to them. Our 4 ball, all really enjoyed our rounds there

The course is well laid out and provides a good test, although our society had to pay £50 a head which is a bit steep.This includes a two course meal. Predictably it was steak pie peas and chips. Only one tray of chips was placed on our table for four and when I asked for extra chips received a further cup full! Some courses I have visited put three times that amount of chips on the table to start.

Plenty of tarmac parking. Nice friendly welcome from Pro Shop. Course really well maintained, all Tee boxes in great level condition, greens are in great order with well mowed approaches. A very nice mature course with enough challenges for any standard of golfer as all greens are well guarded with raked sandy bunkers. A pleasure to play on. Nice hospitality in the 19th. Will definitely return. All this for very reasonable green fee's. Thankyou Wakefield Golf Club!

Mixed Views
Thoroughly enjoyed the course - great mix of holes and in great condition. Quite surprised by the actions of a group of members in a mixed 4-ball. They were very slow and let 2 members in front of us play through after 1 hole. We too were in a 2 ball yet they held us up all they way round the front 9 and grumpily/reluctantly let us through on the 10th when 1 went to use the toilet. Despite thanking them they barely uttered a word and looked at us visitors with contempt. Comical really!!Reviewer Rating

Well worth a visit

Brilliant
Great golf course got it for £28.50 on GolfNow , wouldn’t want to be paying any more than that tho to be fair . Course in great nick and not too many playing on it , so really enjoyable(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 102 Handicap: 20.4)

Excellent course in very good condition. Really enjoyed the par 3`s which were very playable, loved the 2nd hole as it was deceptively difficult to work out the yardage. The tee shot on 5 is very tricky for a player that likes to draw the ball and there are a few water hazards which can easily catch you out, particularly the approach to the 6th green.

I had the privilege of playing as a guest of a friend who is a member.
Previously I have only played at council run courses, which are of a really good standard, however when you play at a facility like this, the step up in grounds keeping is really noticeable. The fairways are cut really low and the greens are like snooker tables! Fantastic course, really warm welcome - can't wait to go back!

Very nice, This must be the best golf course within the Wakefield
area, the greens were very good fast and true, the fairways were also prill.
Played in a knock out and won, so yes i would say it was good but it is.

Course was in very good condition with greens that were reasonably quick. My only complaint was that the sand in some of the bunkers was very compacted making splash shots nigh on impossible, certainly for higher handicap players.
The course is reasonable test and whilst not the longest around, it does require you to think your way around.

Played the course on a Rabbits Open in September.
One of the best courses I've played. Challenging, varied holes, tough par 5's, fantastically lush fairways and deep, fluffy rough.
The greens were recently dressed so the sand made them quite slow and difficult to read but that's a timing issue rather than a condition issue.
I would play there again in a hearbeat.

A good course, well kept and not a tough walk. The greens were very well kept but could have done with utilising the sprinkler system a bit more. You don't expect to have to drop a ball 20yds short of a green to make it stay on when playing a parkland.
