I visited on Sunday afternoon after 4pm so paid a what was a very reasonable rate (£30) for what would be a full 18 holes of suprisingly good quality and varied golf. Nice little touches included good quality tee markers (inc broken tea holders!), yardages on all the sprinkler heads including the usual 100,150,200 coloured markers and even ball scoops next to each hazard crossing.
First impressions were that the East Course was a very attractive, well kept parkland course. Both fairways and greens were in all round tip top condition although I imagine the recent rains have helped although they apparently have their own well which helps.
Playing off c. 6150 off the yellows its a pretty reasonable test for a mid-handicapper with plenty of elevations changes, dog legs, well placed trees and bunkers. Even when the length wasn't there the course was designed to test i.e. the 150 yard Par 3 15th which has a green which will return a less than very good pitch back to your feet for another go and then the 424 yard par 4 18th with its elevated tee followed by a elevated, deep green makes for a testing finish. Yes there is room to get the driver out but you can easily get caught out by a drive that leaks just left or right under a tree and then you won't have a shot in. I managed 30 points of my 16 handicap and left at least 6 shots out there.
All in all a very impressive first visit and looking forward to going back before the summer is over to try and out think those trees. My only minor criticism on the day was being advised to play the East Course by the pro shop which put me (playing alone) right behind 5 groups of Artisans playing a competition so it was touch and go whether I would finish in time.
P.S. I have just read the first review which has just been cut and pasted from the club website and then everything rated 5 Stars. Clearly submitted by the club itself. Whats the point in that?

In Excellent condition as you would expect
Tees in good condition, the fairways perfect, plenty of run off and not too much deep rough unless you go way out. Bunkers had good sand and greens were true and fast. A lot of borrows that could not see unless you play there often! Very enjoyable round with a good challenge match to bootReviewer Rating

First Class
This is a premier golf club, two courses in the most fantastic condition, tee boxes, fairways, semi rough and greens beautifully kept. The clubhouse has undergone renovation and has a considerable amount spent on it, absolutely splendid with views over the course and a super patio.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 96 Handicap: 20.7)

Excellent golf course and club
Played the West Course on a four ball voucher that we had won previously. The welcome was warm and friendly from everyone we met. From the bar staff, the office staff, the pro, the stewards and the ground staff. It felt like everyone wanted us to have a good time. The recently refurbished club house is excellent.Course is a cracker, it's hilly, but a great layout with a good mix of long and short holes. Some brilliant views of London from the top too. (All the way to Wembley on the day we played.)
There is a bit of a draw back, as with most courses set in river valleys, in that it can be very heavy underfoot. But they do their best to keep it open. The greens had been recently tined but were quick enough and ran true. I would also question paying pub prices in the bar at a members club but definitely want to go back.
