Poorly maintained greens, very boggy in areas, no ball cleaners which annoyed my friend Anthony Hart of St Peters in Cheltenham.

Came here in Jan 2013 for a "quick 9" and I was very pleaseantly surprised indeed. Shipton will never be in the big boy league, but it is a very nice full length flat course that has an annoying (!) stream/ditch that crops up regularly, often at driving range, and makes you think of club selection. It is obvious that the tees and greens have been professionally built, the greens in particular being exceptional for deep midwinter, and very true indeed. With a very warm welcome in the small but very adequate clubhouse, it is an ideal place to shrug off winter woes and the like, and with this in mind, is worth a quick visit if you are in the area

I regularly play Shipton as it is nearby and pay and play means no waiting for a tee time. The greens may have been poor in the past but are of a fairly good standard now, despite months of incessent rain which is a great reflection of the work being done by the greenkeepers. The course is not challenging to anyone of a reasonable standard, has no bunkers and the only real hazard is the stream which disects a few fairways. That aside, it is an enjoyable course with friendly staff and is well looked after. Well worth a visit and perfect when you just want a quick 9 holes.

if you are a beginner , casual golfer, or find big courses too long or steep but still like playing this is the place for you. friendly , not pompous ,easy going staff. Great value for money..a few competitions nothing scary, a great place to play golf in a relaxed way.Allow for busy times in summer.

Excellent beginner course to learn the ropes. Pay when you play so no need for membership, basic facilities but it doesn't need a swanky clubhouse, etc as it's not that type of course.

Excellent little course for the novice golfer like myself. The clubhouse is tiny but there is somwhere to have a cuppa or hot chocolate after your game. The changing room is actually a toilet - but it is clean and warm, what more do you want.
The people who work there are friendly and helpful. If you think this this going to be a posh place with fancy changing rooms, a bar and restaurant you will be beitterly dissapointed. It is not for the poshe golfer but it is perfect for me.

3rd pin on the fairway with no reason for the green not being used. No sense of purpose of golfers (2hrs for 2-ball 9 holes, and x3 groups stacking up continuously).
