A great golfing experience

I had heard of Sandy Lodge and was pleased that my Golf Society decided to hold our first meeting of the year there. We received a warm welcome on our arrival. The bacon roll was three large rashers in a brioche bun. Coffee was good and endless. The starter dispensed a little gift to each player and good tips on certain jokes. The course was challenging and the greens were lightening fast. Our delicious meal afterwards made up for my poor score. I would love to play there again.

Excellent course and greens

May be influenced by great weather, but Sandy Lodge is a great course with excellent greens. Six par 3s makes for an interesting course, with testing long holes too.

This course is an absolute gem.

The holes are incredibly varied. You start easy enough, a long par five downhill. Then you come back across a massive bunker with full sized railway sleepers in the face. After a run of long tough par 4s, you get an unusual 90 yard par three, with a deadly tough green. More good holes follow, until an astonishingly good finish: a great par three requiring a accurate shot over 220 yards, a 400+ yard tree lined par 4, a magnificent dog leg par 5 and a final par 3 requiring a seven iron over a chasm.

Fabulous. Full of charm. With the bunkering and rolling fairways, you could easily believe you were on a seaside links on many of the holes. Great welcome too.

A chalenging but not intimidating course. Unforgiving rough though! Greens brilliant even at the end of the summer. Even though my golf was consistent in its inconsistency, really enjoed the round.Wonderful atmosphere within the clubhouse with staff and pro shop very helpful, polite and courteous.

Great course. Proper challenge. Greens are excellent. Practice facilities must be some of the best. Some holes like 5th 6th 11th and 17th very long and we wasn't even off the back tees. Would recommend to anyone. Plus half way hut. Most private courses don't have one but Sandy Lodges is superb. Great day !
