What the club says: Ryton Golf Club, founded in 1891, is located in the picturesque and historic heart of the Tyne Valley. A superb eighteen hole layout, the course is bordered by the River Tyne. It provides a good test for Golfers of all ages and handicaps. Players should not be deceived by comparatively short length of just over 6,000 yards, accuracy is required with many tee shots and approaches to greens.

Missable
This has always been a cheap n cheerful course. I'd only really played it in decent weather previously that I can remember. This however was towards the end of a wet March. We were a society, so got a decent deal, but wow the greens in particular were shockingly bad. I knew before going the course can be a bit tight and overlapping in places, and not to expect much. The fairways were actually ok considering. But yes, green were pointless tbh. A shame...Reviewer Rating

good tight course its short but means you can get round in 2 hours and 45 mins if not held up. Plenty of parking

Reasonable price good course
Got a last minute deal at Ryton golf clubTwelve pounds. Arrived and went to see the pro he was very helpful and informative
Played the first six holes alone but joined another lone golfer
Tees were fine. Fairways well kept. Greens were ok but as autumn is with us not at there best but very acceptable
Some good holes and challenges
All in all a very good outing

little gem
ryton is a challenging course with tight fairways.Although not long itrequires accuracy off the tee and a good short game in order to score well. The greens are smallish but true. Aggod test of golf for all abilities.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 86 Handicap: 15.9)

tricky course
Interesting course which rewards accuracy rather than length. Some tricky greens with subtle slopes. Excellent value for money. Well worth a visit!(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 86 Handicap: 15.3)

Dust bowl
We played after getting a deal with Groupon that prooved to be very good value. The course lacks challenge (not that my score reflects this) a number of the fairways were rock solid, yellow and dusty which made tracking your ball a challenge. The course has inconsistent distance indicators that makes playing without GPS a challenge and is very congested. It is not always clear where the next tee is and several times we were close to being hit by players on neighbouring fairways. It must be said the greens were in great condition and played true so it made for a decent round.Reviewer Rating

A generally short course that was in good condition. There is however a problem- the amount of dog walkers, joggers and cyclists that are on the public right of ways that run both along the course and indeed through the course. If I was playing here regularly the risk of hitting someone would just be too much. They offer some great deals (presumably because of the problem mentioned above) and so worth a dodge down for somewhere different.

ourse was in excellent condition given time of year (end of April) and recent adverse weather, some mats in operation and temporary tee boxes but all greens open. Very scenic golf course with some tough holes especally of a windy day with narrow sloping fairways. The par 3 holes are challenging with bunkers surrounding them and trees at the back and front of the green. Good value for money nice clubhouse and friendly staff but better courses in the area
