Flooded

Playing a round of golf at Rodway Golf Course during a monsoon rainstorm was an adventure unlike any other. Despite the challenging conditions, the course managed to maintain its charm and allure, offering golfers a unique and memorable experience.

The first thing that struck me as I arrived at the course was its stunning natural beauty. Nestled amidst lush greenery and bordered by picturesque mountains, Rodway Golf Course exudes tranquility and serenity. However, on the day of my visit, this tranquility was disrupted by the relentless downpour of the monsoon rain.

As I made my way through the course, it quickly became apparent that the recent deluge had transformed Rodway into something resembling a flood plain. Puddles dotted the fairways, and the once-pristine greens were sodden and waterlogged. However, despite the challenging conditions, the course remained open, a testament to the resilience and dedication of its staff.

Navigating the waterlogged fairways and greens presented a unique set of challenges. Approach shots required careful consideration of both distance and trajectory, as the rain-soaked ground affected the roll of the ball. Putting became an exercise in patience and precision, as even the gentlest stroke could send the ball veering off course on the saturated greens.

Despite the adversity, there was a sense of camaraderie amongst the players. We shared laughs and exchanged stories of near misses and miraculous shots, finding solace in the shared experience of battling the elements. And amidst the chaos of the storm, there were moments of sheer beauty – the rain-soaked landscape taking on an ethereal quality, with mist rising from the mountains in the distance.

Overall, my experience at Rodway Golf Course during the monsoon rainstorm was one I will never forget. While the conditions were undoubtedly challenging, they added an element of excitement and adventure to the game. And amidst the floodwaters and rain-soaked fairways, I found a newfound appreciation for the resilience of both the course and the golfers who dared to brave the storm.

Wow, truly the worse course I have ever played. Fairways looked like they hadn't been cut in weeks. There is a reason this course is so cheap!

Played this course today 18/07/2014 was sorely dissappointed the fairways need to cut their is moss growing on most of the greens, then there are the bunkers little sand in any of them what there was ,was like concrete and the weeds growing in these bunkers was nothing short of disgraceful, course management is of a very poor standard ,I will never play this course again until money is spent to upgrade the course to an acceotable standard

Rodway Hill Golf Club

Played in March, in a very poor condition, not mowed fairways were very long almost impossible to play from. A real shame Society played there last year and was a stand out course. Like many others seems the winter weather has put course preparation back and it showed.

Always a very good venue but on this occasion and I guess it was due to the recent rain we have had, the fairways were not in very good condition due to the cut

Disappointing to turn up 15 minutes before our tee time to see a society of about 20 players in buggies queueing to tee off, particularly as we had been advised on the phone that progress was steady. Although two of the five fourballs let us through we waited on every tee and before every approach. Second time in two weeks. All the tees were muddy and the greens were very poor. Not inclined to play again in a hurry despite the fact that this has been our go-to course for many years.

You are always guaranteed a friendly welcome at Rodway and the fairways today were in good nick. Some of the bunkers were awful, however. Some of the greens were very poor and the 'first cut' semi rough was capable of completely hiding your ball only inches off the fairway. A varied and challenging course.

Good for a Knock

A good ok course, nothing to rave about, nothing to be disappointed about, no outstanding features. Good fairways and tee boxes, ok greens. Some nice views, one or two challenging holes. Would play again if more local.

Difficult to judge properly as there had been a lot of rain on the previous day. A little short and some greens small but very playable on an ongoing basis. Great views too. Very friendly.
