First time here and made welcome by everyone. Tight front nine through woodland then opens out on the lower back nine. Greens very fast but true.

The course is clearly much better than I experienced owing to the fact the greens had just been treated with airiation holes, however they were still pretty true to be fair and reasonably fast. As all the previous reviews the course really is split in two halves, par 33 front 9 and 38 on the back. Don't be fooled by the shortness of the first 9 holes, really tight sloping fairways and small greens on the par 3's make this a real challenge. The back 9, although long opens up a little meaning you can afford to attack from the tee, 4 par 5's on the homeward 9 all easily reachable in 3 and good chance of 2 for long hitters as all between 450-500 yards and quite straight with minimal hazards in play. My score reflected the course difficulty, 11 on the front 9 and 2 on the back. Don't get disheartened through 1-9 as there are scoring chances aplenty 10-18. Overall good value at £17.50, would like to go back in a few weeks once greens have settled, disappointed not to be told on booking/arrival, yet still an enjoyable course and a welcome challenge.

Greens in immaculate condition as just been Captains Day. Stint reading probably only 9-10 but the slopes add several more! Very friendly club professional and value for money with 2 fore 1. Course of 2 halves. Tight and short front 9 with sloping fairways and treelined - 9th is so narrow you need to be straight. Back 9 across the road is flat, much longer and a little bit samey given a parkland setting with trees splitting several fairways side by side. Thats not a criticism but this course isnt Hillsborough, Hallamshire or even Abbeydale but it does give other local courses a run for their money. Loved it.

Played here on 26/05/13, I found the course to be in great condition. The front 9 is tight and testing, with the back 9 being more open but longer. The greens were the star of the course and were receptive and fast ( I may have de-greened a couple!). Well worth a visit (I came up from Dorset) and a course I will deffinately play again.

I played here at the members guest rate of £17.50 and was very impressed. Although the course was starting to get a little wet (I would say it's a course that's at its best in the summer), the variety of holes on offer made it a thoroughly enjoyable round.

If you play here at the weekend, don't eat before you go as the cafe by te 7th green is not to be missed!

In sumary, a very enjoyable course. However, had I paid the full greenfee of £35, i would have probably considered it to be on the expensive side.

The 18 holes at Renishaw actually comprise two quite different 9 hole courses. The first 9 is a very picturesque series of well-established but shortish holes which play back and to along a lush green terrace. Some of the holes have very restricted fairway width and accuracy is very important for low scoring.

The 2nd 9 holes may prove a slight disappointment after the very pleasant surroundings of the 1st 9. They are accessed across a dangerously busy main road and are set out on a flat and less memorable field which, unfortunately, proved to be part of a flood plain for a local river in the terrible floods of July 2007. This part of the course was closed for some time in the aftermath of the floods and seems not to have fully recovered as yet, even 12 months on. Still, you'll get more chance to use your driver on the back 9 and it is far more forgiving of the odd stray shot.

Renishaw is open for membership currently and has many affordable packages available for the visiting party. It also takes the 2-fore-1 vouchers at certain times of the week. All in all, an interesting and varied day's golf on offer here.

Cracking course in very good condition despite the rain. Found it by chance, but can't wait to play it again in dry conditions.
