Nice course spoiled by rude snobby members and staff

A lovely course in top condition somewhat spoiled by rude aggressive members who clearly don't want visitors on their course. Snobby staff who look down their noses at you whilst you pay almost 400 quid for a 4-ball.
And most bizarrely of all they don't believe in tee times. They are just a vague guide. So you inevitably get large clumps of golfer all going out on top of each other, all getting annoyed at the slow pace of play. Wouldn't play again.

beware of the rough....it has teeth

very similar to a links course. plays much shorter when it is dry. the rough is rough and you don`t want to go in it. You are lucky if you find your ball. Greens are super fast and will catch you out so make sure you have 20 mins on the putting green before tee off. Expensive to play at £50 (in my opinion)
Be straight or be annoyed!!!!

Good course in Essex close to M25. Always nice condition. The rough is vary rough so stay straight. I think it's priced to high for a round. I paid ?48 and don't think it's worth that in my opinion. I have been back since but on a freebie 👍🏻

Orsett golf course is not the longest course around but a good test of golf. You need you straight game to have a good round. The rough is rough and it doesn`t like giving you your ball back. The tee boxes were good, the fairways cut nicely and the greens were pretty much all flat but nice and quick. The staff were friendly and the dinner was very good. All in all a big thumbs up

we played the course on 2nd Feb 2010 and the front and back 9's were very fair. The fairways are very wide, and the challenge is around the greens. So have a good short game with you.
despite the poor weather for the previous 2 months, only 1 temporary green. And the course was generally in good condition.
Friendly Pro shop and nice clubhouse.
Pins were challenging but that is what you want, marker positions were clear and accurate.
There are plenty of opportunities to birdie if you play your shots into the right areas and have a neat short game as mentioned before, and three of the 4 Par 5's are reachable in 2 if the wind and good bounce is with you.
worth a visit

The course played very tough today. Pins were tucked away in unapproachable positions and the wind was quite strong. Last 4 holes are energy sapping and quite had to par. However, there are chances to birdie if you play your shots into the right areas and have a neat short game.

Really nice course, lots of gorse to avoid. Plenty of interesting holes. Unfortunately the members are among the most miserable I've ever encountered. They don't like visitors.
Play it once, it is worth it, if you avoid the members you might go back.

Orsett - Excellent course, but way over priced and some unfriendly cha

Beautiful course in great condition with lots of challenging bunkers. However it's way over priced for what it is. And whilst majority of players and staff were friendly day was soured by one club members attitude and aggression in the bar after the round. (My friend was wearing golf shoes - but despite checking for signs nothing stated they weren't allowed. Could have easily been dealt with in a friendly manner. We're both experienced golfers and the approach left a sour taste). That along with the unnecessarily step price would put me off recommending.

Very nice

Well established course that's always in good condition. Nice opening par 5 to ease you in followed by a tough par 4 and then a short par 3. Get off to a good start, keep it straight and this is a joy to play. Wander off line and plenty of gorse awaits your ball. Generally the par threes are comfortable, the 12th is a lovely looking hole. The par fours are tough and the par 5's are not the most testing. It's a good mix.
The greens are excellent, the bunkers are all well kept.
Good practice facilities include a chipping and bunker practice area.
Food was excellent.
However, TBH I think they are overpricing the course for non members.

great course in Essex

You need you straight game for this course. It goes from fairway to thick rough and it`s not forgiving at all. The greens and lovely and pretty quick. A good true role on them. This is a course you could leave the driver in the car and card a good round. Be straight or take lots of balls with you !!!!
Staff are helpful and friendly. nice putting green and chipping area. worth a visit but its well on the pricey side for a round.

Thought it was a bit expensive at 47.50 for 18 holes but once we started our round I forgot about the money and concentrated on not going in the rough !!!! Course was drand firm. A really good test of golf at orsett. If your not a straight hitter then your n trouble on every hole. Could easily go round with just iron play but must be on your game. Greens were fast and true with good use of bunkers throughout the course. A real test of golf on this course. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will return soon even know it's on the pricey side. Make sure you take plenty of balls !!!! A lovely course and probably the best in Essex

Not your typical wet clay based mud bowl. Tough course, but great option in the winter for the gravel drained turf, and a "linksy" challenge during the summer for when the ball flies a bit further, and hopefully weather is better. If you play to your handicap round here then I would say that you have succeeded! I found a couple of members to be an absolute bore and irritating, but as you probably know every club has its dickheads!!
