Not a winter course very muddy and some of the worse mats I have played off. If you are going to put down mats make sure they are good condition. Course looks good on website but a very average track

nice enough spacious setting in a quiet valley, just one visual blot with the pylons. Reasonable layout, if a little easy. I never concentrate on condition when reviewing a course, but every element is so poor it's impossible to do otherwise..fairways bare and patchy, hardly any bunkers in play (almost all seem to be GUR) and have obviously had serious problems with the greens. The range is shabby and all fixtures and fittings (boards for each hole, starters hut, signage etc) are apparently being left to rot. No idea where the par 3's are being measured from, always a clue that a place is being run by someone with little interest in golf. Greenkeeper refused to give way to us, pro shop not particularly friendly. Clubhouse is also in dire need of refurbishing, no menu for food they can do a sandwich that I could have done better myself. If I was betting I would predict it closing within 2 years, and that would be the only reason to play it at the moment.

Course - unplayable, no pro shop, expensive to play. The course is in poor condition, there was more sand on the greens than there was in the bunkers.\The bunkers where non existent.\I would not recommend this course.

The course is very nice but the greens are an absolute disgrace at the moment. They are apparently being treated but they are totally unplayable. They are like sand pits with deep holes all over them. £28 for a round is shocking price. You cannot pitch the ball and putting is a lottery. Not happy.

Course was greens better described as browns covered in a LOT of sand with huge bare patches. Tees were literally scrub land with an almost complete absence of grass. Bunkers had little sand and where there was sand there was grass growing in clumps. Even the food was decidedly average.

Poor condition compared to other courses and for 28 in the winter the course should be much, much better. The holes are very open with little to penalise offline shots, a couple of the holes have water right behind the green and with pins set right at the have this course penalises attacking golf. Very quietly for a Friday, which was nice but I can understand why, much of the course is tatty with parts resembling industrial estate and the green keepers mowing all the way around until lunchtime shows this is poorly run. Range balls were shocking and expensive and the range is in terrible condition, food in bar was good but it desperately needs a refurb.

played 12 july 2013...greens were in terrible condition and fairways were pretty poor too, i know we have had some scorching weather but other courses are coping better in my opinion. groupon voucher £24 plus bacon rolls and range balls (the range is dog5hit too) not even worth the £12 each - very disappointed and wont be going back

Roughs are like a jungle!!
Just off the fairways were very deep.. constantly wasting time looking for balls that had just rolled off the fairways.. also.. first cut rough off the green were also very deep.. anywhere other than straight was in the deep deep rough ( roughs were so deep I shouldve brought a machete instead of a wedge!!)Bought a stake bake from the club house ... no steak or gravy.. just pastry.. I assume it had been there all day sunning itself in the oven..very expensive for what it is.. won't be rushing back.

Dissapointing

Played on 7 Feb and it was simply the soggiest course I have ever played. It was a quagmire. Casual water everywhere. Admittedly there had been a deluge overnight but surely a golf course should have better drainage than that? Having said that it is a decent track and I would like to see how it plays in summer conditions

Groupon voucher for 2 which included 36 holes with bacon roll and a cuppa. Wouldn't pay full price to play there but ok with a voucher.

Course was flat and tee boxes were thread bare. Needs some attention and a good cut.
5 hours for a round is taking the mickey really. Very busy for a Monday and a free for all on the first tee.
Greens were fine but people didn't repair pitch marks. Wouldn't rush back

we booked this course through groupon a couple of weeks ago and wanted buggies .On arrival we were told that no buggies due to condition of the ground.
As we have had only a couple of days rain ,the gound was very very wet under foot to our surprise. Overhall very disappointed with the drainage and the condition of the course.
doubt if we would play this course again.There is much better courses and cheaper.

Good enjoyable course
My friend and I played at Nazeing in August 2023, having not played there for over seven years. We had always been concerned that the course wasn't good at coping with wet weather. We were pleasantly surprised by how it had coped with the recent very wet weather in July 2023.We were both impressed by the quality of the greens and bunkers and this contributed to an enjoyable round for both of us. We were less impressed by the clubhouse where the choice and quality of the food on offer was very disappointing. We decided to eat afterwards at a neighbouring pub. We would play here again but go elsewhere to have food.

First time here and impressed. Good layout and although some tees are a walk from the previous green it is well signposted. Greens are quite large and there are one or two fun holes. A longer than normal course and one where you would hope to drive well.

Pleasant Return
I haven't played this course in many years and it have matured quite magnificently in the ensuing time the recent rain help it to have very lush greens and fairways(Round played: May 2021 - Score: 86 Handicap: 13)

Nice course, in general in good condition. My general moan is bunkers. Greenside bunkers sand so deep you sink up to your ankles. Fairway bunkers, no sand at all and no indication as to whether it is GUR.

First Time at Nazeing
Got a groupon voucher for two at Nazeing, really enjoyed the round in was played under a lot of winter tees which my sister felt were really challenging on the red tees. Enjoyed the round and course although I think in Summer it would be completely different. Thought the 19th hole was dissapointing, nice service but no food really and fairly tired surroundings(Round played: Mar 2019 - Score: 95 Handicap: 20.7)

Great Groupon Deal
Normally £32 at the weekend, but the Groupon deal meant it was a £5 round. Great course for that price, however it does attract different golfers. We were stuck behind a 4 ball, with buggies, all day (only 3 of us) and they did not want to let us through. We was on the tee with them sometimes!Looking past that the course was nice and greens were consistent. Not the longest course but picking your way round can be tricky. Bunkers that are there are in great condition, looks like a number have been removed for some reason though.
