Played this course April this year and could see that it was improving under new management. played again today with a friend had 2-4-1 best ten pounds we have spent on golf this year. no negative vibe at all the course was immaculate we are both 5 handicap and both believe this is one of the best courses around the area. for the management team carry on the good work. worth a game any time of the year.

Brilliant new course, a lot of work has been carried out by the new management team and I can only imagine it to get better. A tough challenging course.

I think the last review was a bit harsh. I am also a course manager in Cheshire and I know a few course managers and greenkeepers who have been to play at the oaks to see what the course is like now under new management. I think course is looking good, still needs a lot of work but considering how poor it was 2 years ago I think they have done a fantastic job.
Allso I think as greenkeepers we should not diss other courses, greenkeepers should stick together and help each other.

As a greenkeeper on a high end course in Cheshire (and Mollington Grange Golf Club around the time of opening) and a keen mid handicapper I can review this course from two angles.

The layout of Mollington is very good. There are some short par threes/fours, a very long (621 yrd) par five and some regular length holes. There are also some interesting holes not often seen on a course of this level (1st, 10th, 12th, 16th and 17th). The course is exposed and open to the elements... the wind is almost like that experienced on a links course, which I like! It is rare to find your ball on flat ground, albeit on the fairway or otherwise. I find the course challenging but also see the possibility of achieving a good score; which is a good recipe for a course worth signing up for membership.

But at the time of writing this review there is lots of room for improvement with regard to the maintenance schedule and attention to detail. Admittedly, most of our games were played soon after the annual greens maintenance so "bobbly" and soft greens were expected. Though despite this recognition I found the greens very tough to play. Whether I played onto the green with a SW or 6 iron huge pitch marks were created, leaving my ball inches away from the place of landing. They were also playing quite slow; even before the annual greens renovation commenced... in my experience id say they were stimping at around 7-8ft. When the holes had been pulled from the green they had been extracted with such speed a raised area around the cup created "volcanoes" for holes. They seem to be rarely trimmed/repaired/moved. Rough, semi and fairways seem like they need mowing more regular and the overall appearance of tees and course furniture is poor. Bins are open, allowing litter to blow around. The land around the clubhouse is also somewhat unsightly.

The course is under new management and had reopened 18 months prior to our rounds. As soon as the course furniture is updated and standardised throughout, the pathways are relayed (or in some cases removed completely), the tees tidied up and the maintenance schedule fine tuned this will be a very welcoming course.

Excellent layout, distance, difficulty and location.
Just a bit scruffy at the moment.
Staff welcoming and friendly.

Played here on September 8th. We really enjoyed the course which has an interesting layout. Conditions were fine although one or two fairways were in need of cutting. Could tell that the course had been expensively built and current owners are well on way to restoring it to its former glory. We had a meal booked between rounds as we were there for 27 holes. Unfortunately, the meal arrangements were slightly chaotic but this didn't spoil the day.

I and 7 workmates played yesterday 20/08/2013 at The Oaks Mollington. We were immediatly struck by how knowledgable and friendly all the staff were. The course layout was explained to us and off we went. What an amazing expierence we had, the course was a delight to play, with a mixture of holes that you will remember long after you leave this little gem.If you have never played this come down and give it a try, you will not be sorry. Many thanks to the manager Brian for sorting a Buggy for our disabled collegue who was unable to play, but to come round with us and enjoy the day.

Played course today, greens in superb condition. It is 3 years since I last played this course and there is a vast improvement since then. I have played many courses in the northwest and north Wales and this is up there.

Played today and the course was in great condition. Great test of golf for all standards. Greens were true and it's a great layout. Very friendly staff. Grabbed a bargain with the 2 for 1 green fees! Clubhouse perimeter needs titivating. This course is going to be one of the best in the region should the on course and off course improvements continue in the future. Look forward to playing next year.
