The oaks at mollington is 1 of the hardest courses I have played.
There is water in play on 16 holes and it is placed
In nearly every drop zone also full of bunkers especially
round the greens.

Firstly, let's set the record straight by informing all I have been a member of the club for three years, and joined with two of my friends. The reason we joined the club was that our old club was continually closing, due to exceptionally rainy weather in 2013. This course was the only course in the area we could get a game on. The course is very difficult, but with perseverence, strategies can be developed that get you a good score. Since being here my handicap has improved by 3 shots, not because my golfing technique has improved dramatically, but more because I have to think about what I am doing.
Usually, people's memories of a course are tempered by how good/bad a round they had, and on this course, you can very easily have a bad first round and never come back. Trust me, give it time and you will see the rewards.

The Oaks is a fantastic course. It is one of the few courses that plays as an inland links, but without the cost. The green fees are of a fantastic value for money, as the course is kept better than many others who charge you more. The clubhouse could certainly do with being extended, as the shop is very small, and I feel that they could gain a lot more in the way of revenue by having a little more in the way of retail.

The course itself however, is so way laid out that it is obvious that a lot of time has been spent on it's design and preperation. The course has it deceptively easy holes (#6), its stroke breakers (#16, #17) and it's down right difficult competition holes (#7 @ 650yds from yellow). The greens are in exceptional condition all year round and as a guide, they are deceptively fast, so watch out.

This course has fantastically helpful and friendly staff, who do their utmost to assist and to make your day a wonderful one. I would recommend a buggy for this course as it is over 6k yards and quite hilly. Overall, a fantastic round of golf that I would recommend to anyone.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the condition and improvements with the course, clubhouse and staff. The greens were really good and the course itself was immaculate. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be going back.

As a greenkeeper on a high end course in Cheshire (and Mollington Grange Golf Club around the time of opening) and a keen mid handicapper I can review this course from two angles.

The layout of Mollington is very good. There are some short par threes/fours, a very long (621 yrd) par five and some regular length holes. There are also some interesting holes not often seen on a course of this level (1st, 10th, 12th, 16th and 17th). The course is exposed and open to the elements... the wind is almost like that experienced on a links course, which I like! It is rare to find your ball on flat ground, albeit on the fairway or otherwise. I find the course challenging but also see the possibility of achieving a good score; which is a good recipe for a course worth signing up for membership.

But at the time of writing this review there is lots of room for improvement with regard to the maintenance schedule and attention to detail. Admittedly, most of our games were played soon after the annual greens maintenance so "bobbly" and soft greens were expected. Though despite this recognition I found the greens very tough to play. Whether I played onto the green with a SW or 6 iron huge pitch marks were created, leaving my ball inches away from the place of landing. They were also playing quite slow; even before the annual greens renovation commenced... in my experience id say they were stimping at around 7-8ft. When the holes had been pulled from the green they had been extracted with such speed a raised area around the cup created "volcanoes" for holes. They seem to be rarely trimmed/repaired/moved. Rough, semi and fairways seem like they need mowing more regular and the overall appearance of tees and course furniture is poor. Bins are open, allowing litter to blow around. The land around the clubhouse is also somewhat unsightly.

The course is under new management and had reopened 18 months prior to our rounds. As soon as the course furniture is updated and standardised throughout, the pathways are relayed (or in some cases removed completely), the tees tidied up and the maintenance schedule fine tuned this will be a very welcoming course.

Excellent layout, distance, difficulty and location.
Just a bit scruffy at the moment.
Staff welcoming and friendly.

Brian Dique is a great General Manager and a credit to the Oaks. Always helpful and he and is staff offer a first-class service. I have been a number of times with my sons and Brian always goes out of his way to make us feel welcome. It is very difficult course but I love the challenge, even though I lose a good number of balls in the lakes. Despite the bad weather the course is always kept in top condition. Thanks so much Brain for a first-class experience. Les, Steven and Jamie Roberts.

Good course, and would play again. Some really good holes and for the time of year (Oct-15), the course was in fantastic condition. Not one of these courses were you go up a hole, and then back down the next fairway. Have a go, really really good value too.
