I really enjoyed playing here. I arrived on my own for a 3.30 tee off which afforded me the twilight rate of £15. I changed in the really good quality, clean changing rooms, then as I was getting set up on the tee, a member arrived also on his own, so we paired up and he showed me round. He was terrific company and better than playing alone.

The course is not overly long, which suits me as a beginner. I was able to get the driver out maybe 9 or 10 times, but a more accomplished player would use it less. The course had lots of trees that were deceptively thick and required a chip back to the fairway. The bunkers were quite wet so firm and caused me some trouble. The greens were in good condition though had just been treated with something that got all over my hands and clubs. I don't know what it was but it wasn't nice.

There was a nice rhythm to the course. It didn't feel like there were any drags (ie runs of par 4s isn't there to make up the number). I particularly liked the par 3 15th, across some reeds and a pond to a slightly lowered green.

The clubhouse was closed when we finished (at around 6.30) which meant we couldn't get a drink and I had hoped to have dinner there, but it was not to be. There didn't appear to be any staff here at all at that time, and so nothing apparently stopping a late arrival playing for free.

The closed clubhouse, and the horrible stuff on the greens were the main downside, but it was great value and an interesting course for a player of my standard. Perhaps a good course for better players to improve their course management on, rather than a "bash it" course.

Play in winter

Me and my son played this today and the course was in good condition. The greens were quick and ran fairly true, the only problem I had was using the tee mats as I couldn't get tees in some of them but still a very good course. Will be back later in the year with the Norfolk and Suffolk golfmates society.

Great club, very friendly, great value for money

We were on holiday in North Norfolk and fancied a couple of rounds. This one stood out for the reviews and for the value for money and they were not wrong. Really nice people, the gent in the office greeted us and even gave us some tips for the round which really helped. Great bacon rolls, good lunch baguettes, all round a great day out. The course was brilliant too.

As someone who hits longer than average, I was playing a lot of tee shots on irons, used my driver 3 times, but definitely makes you play slightly differently!

Would definitely recommend!!

My friends and I enjoyed plotting our way around this short-ish but well maintained and interesting golf course. It makes a change for us mid handicappers not to have to be trying to smash the paint off our lake balls on every other tee box. There are plenty of well placed hazards about to ensure you are not doing your handicap a dis-service. The outstanding feature of our morning wasn't the golf however, but the fantastic hospitality and friendly welcome received by Mike and his catering staff. Good solid food, nice course, happy days. We will be back!

Very enjoyable shorter course

I played the Senior Pairs Open here with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is my type of course. Not particularly long but demands that you think your way around the 18 holes. Every hole presents a different challenge and is presented in excellent condition. Members are very welcoming, practice facilities very good, food in the clubhouse very tasty. Highly recommended.

Fantastic! We keep coming back each year

We holiday in Norfolk, and we play at Middleton each time we go on holiday there. The staff are so friendly and it is a great course and way worth the green fees. Great driving range facilities too.

A great course, not too long but tricky. Needs playing twice if you haven't been before , ball position off the tee vital. 1 or 2 crossing fairways could ( did ) lead to playing at the wrong green . Really fast greens .
