What the club says: Situated in West Norfolk one mile south of Downham Market on the main Cambridge to Kings Lynn road is one of East Anglia's finest nine hole golf courses at Ryston Park. The golf course was constructed in 1932, designed by the late James Braid. The club itself was formed in 1933.

Eighteen holes of golf at Ryston Park measures 6330 yards played from the white tee boxes with a par and standard scratch of 71. One of the toughest holes is the second, 436 yards with out of bounds and trees on the right and strategically placed bunkers on the left. A good drive will still leave a challenging second shot into a green protected by bunkers. The best hole on the course is also the shortest. From the tee the 152 yard par 3 seventh hole is played over bushes and a lake, the green is protected by an overhanging tree on the left. If you come off of this green with a par and you should be well satisfied.

Little hidden delight

Hidden away in near to Downham Market. A great course very flat but still a good challenge for a well looked after 9 hole course a must do place.
Will be back I?m certain.

My course, in great condition

I thoroughly recommend this course. The greenkeepers have produced an outstanding 9 hole course during the lockdown period. The greens are immaculate and the fairways short firm and green. The water hazards are full and the wildlife (geese) thrive. A round of 18 required two tee bookings to be permissible, easily achieved as the feared oversubscription since re-starting golf has not materialised. Am not sure if green fee players are yet able to play.

Hidden gem

A beautiful little nine hole course hidden away near Downham market. The course is always well kept and the members extremely friendly. As a whole the course has some challenging holes with many undulations on the fairways. The greens are always well kept and of a medium pace. The best hole by far is the 7th a awkward little par 3. Only down side is that the same Ts are used second time round. a plus for me is I can take my dog with me.

We were welcomed by the steward and members right from our arrival. This continued throughout our round with the two members we played with and into the clubhouse at the conclusion of our round. A very friendly club indeed and the couse in great condition especially the greens.

Where to start! What a lovely course! Look past the fact only a 9 hole and you begin to understand the complexity and beauty of this little gem! Greens (especially for time of year) are superb and a credit to the hard work the greenkeeper has put in. If you play this course you won't be disappointed, but Don't underestimate this course as it is tight and unforgiving! That aside good value and lovely people with a friendly welcome.

Very nice short course well kept. Getting booked on was a little laboured not so welcoming. The playing more than made up fpr this. Best greens I have played in the area this year.

This is a very good 9 hole course having excellent greens. Pleasant parkland course which is not as easy as it first looks. The 2 opening par 4 holes require an accurate and a good length in order to hit the green in 2. The 2 par 3 holes require good tee shots and both can wreck a medal round. Each hole has something different to test you.
I rate the course as a "golfers course" where good accurate shots are rewarded but is not too penalistic on the slightly wayward shots.
Staff and members very welcoming. Worth a visit.
